''Representing the Mambo'' is the ninth studio album by the American rock band Little Feat, released in 1990. The single "Texas Twister", aided by a popular video which received heavy rotation on MTV, became the band's second #1 hit on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and would be a popular feature in the band's set list throughout the 90s. The album would be their last on Warner Bros. Records after nearly 20 years with the label. Little Feat
Little Feat is an American rock band formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles. George disbanded the group because of creative differences shortly before his death in 1979. Surviving members re-formed Little Feat in 1987 and the band has remained active to the present. The band's music is a mixture of rock and roll, blues, country, R&B and jazz. Guitarist Jimmy Page stated that Little Feat was his favorite American band in a 1975 ''Rolling Stone'' interview. Shaun Murphy (singer)
Shaun Murphy (born May 6, 1948) is an American blues and R&B singer songwriter, best known for her powerhouse singing style. Sometimes credited as Stoney, her recording career started in 1971 with Motown Records. Career Murphy shared the stage with many Detroit-based bands, including Wilson Mower Pursuit and Jake Wade and the Soul Searchers, in venues such as Detroit's Grande Ballroom, as well as the first Ann Arbor Blues Festival in 1969, along with various large state fairground music venues. She was soon noticed by an employee of Motown in a touring theater production along with Texas native Meat Loaf. The two were signed by Rare Earth Records, a division of Motown Records, as Stoney & Meatloaf (band), Stoney and Meatloaf in 1971. Neon Park
Neon Park (born Martin Muller, December 28, 1940 – September 1, 1993) was an American artist, comics artist and illustrator, best known for the images that have strongly defined covers for nearly every Little Feat album except for the band's self-titled first album. He also created the cover of ''Weasels Ripped My Flesh'' for Frank Zappa,Neil Slaven, ''Electric Don Quixote: The Definitive Story of Frank Zappa'', Omnibus Press, 2003, p158. as well as covers and graphics for David Bowie, Dr. John, and the Beach Boys. Marilyn Martin (born May 4, 1954) is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for her 1985 hit duet with Phil Collins, "Separate Lives", her only number one. Early life Marilyn Martin was born on May 4, 1954, in Tennessee but raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She was exposed to different genres of music as a child. Michael Leonard Brecker (March 29, 1949 – January 13, 2007) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. He was awarded 15 Grammy Awards as both performer and composer. Peter Asher
Peter Asher, (born 22 June 1944) is an English guitarist, singer, manager and record producer. He came to prominence in the 1960s as a member of the pop music vocal duo Peter and Gordon before going on to a successful career as a manager and record producer, helping to foster the recording careers of James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt among others.
