Drummondville is a city in the Centre-du-Québec region of Quebec, located east of Montreal on the Saint-François River. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 79,258. The mayor of Drummondville is Stéphanie Lacoste. Drummondville is the seat of Drummond Regional County Municipality, and of the Judicial districts of Quebec, judicial district of Drummond. History Drummondville was founded in June 1815 by Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Heriot. The purpose of the town was to provide a home for United Kingdom, British soldiers in the War of 1812, and to guard the Saint-François (St Francis) River against United States, American attacks. The town was named after Sir Gordon Drummond, the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada between 1813 and 1816. The construction of the Hemmings Falls hydro-electric dam in 1920 brought a new wave of industrial growth to the Drummondville area. Michel Armand Guy Pagliaro (born 9 November 1948) is a Canadian rock singer, songwriter and guitarist from Montreal, Quebec. Pagliaro was nominated for a 1975 Juno Award as male vocalist of the year. Although he writes and records predominantly in French, Pagliaro’s has reached international success mainly with material released in English. Career Pagliaro's first nationally English-charted hit was his 1970 single "Give Us One More Chance". Other significant hits in English include "Lovin' You Ain't Easy" (1971) which reached Number 31 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1972, "Rainshowers" (1972), "Some Sing Some Dance" (1972), and "What The Hell I Got" (1975). Marcel Martel (musician)
Marcel Martel (February 1, 1925 – April 13, 1999) was a French Canadian singer-songwriter and composer. Born in Drummondville, Quebec, and playing country music since childhood, Martel first found success in 1947 with his songs "La Chaine de nos coeurs" and "Souvenir de mon enfance". Over the course of a thirty five-year career he released nearly two hundred records, frequently collaborating with his wife Noëlla Therrien, his daughter Renée Martel, and fellow Québécois country singer Paul Brunelle. Saint-Hyacinthe (; French: ) is a city in southwestern Quebec east of Montreal on the Yamaska River. The population as of the 2021 Canadian census was 57,239.
