Renán Calle
Renán Calle Camacho (born August 9, 1976) is a retired Ecuadorian football defender. Club career Calle started his professional playing career in 1999 with Aucas. He had a short spell with El Nacional before returning to Aucas in 2002. In 2006 Calle returned to El Nacional where he was part of the championship winning team in 2006. In 2007, he joined LDU Quito where he was part of the team that won the 2007 Ecuadorian Championship. In 2008 he was one of the key members of the LDU squad that won the Copa Libertadores. The 2007 Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol de la Serie A (known as 2007 Copa Pílsener Serie A for sponsorship reasons) was the 49th season of Ecuador's Serie A, the country's top football league. The season began on February 10. LDU Quito won their 9th title. Format The format for this season remains the same as the previous season. The First Stage and Second Stage are identical. The ten teams competed in a double round-robin tournament, one game at home and one away. The top three teams in each stage qualified to the Liguilla Final with bonus points (3, 2, and 1 point respectively). 2009 Copa Sudamericana
The 2009 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes (officially the 2009 Copa Nissan Sudamericana de Clubes for sponsorship reasons) is the 8th edition of the CONMEBOL's secondary international club tournament. Internacional were the defending champions, having won the trophy the previous season. Ecuadorian side LDU Quito won the 2009 tournament, becoming the first Ecuadorian winners of the trophy. From this edition onward, CONCACAF teams, which have participated in the tournament since 2005, will no longer be participating because of the format change in the CONCACAF Champions League, which conflicted with scheduling. This will also mark the last tournament in which Argentine clubs River Plate and Boca Juniors will be invited to participate without qualification. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana, named as ''Copa Sudamericana'' (; pt, Copa Sul-Americana ), is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 2002. It is the second-most prestigious club competition in South American football. CONCACAF clubs were invited between 2004 and 2008. The CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur (that had replaced Copa CONMEBOL) by a single competition. Since its introduction, the competition has been a pure elimination tournament with the number of rounds and teams varying from year to year. The 2010 Recopa Sudamericana de Clubes was a two-legged tie that determined the winner of the Recopa Sudamericana, an annual football match between the winners of the previous season's Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana competitions. It was contested between Argentine club Estudiantes de La Plata and LDU Quito from Ecuador.
