Renew (album)
''Renew'' is the sixth full-length studio album released by American band The Badlees. It was released on S.A.M. Records in June 2002 and was the first new album by the band in three years. Background Following the departure of longtime manager Terry Selders the beginning of 2000, The Badlees had a bit of inner turmoil and various members of the band focused on "side" projects, rather than anything new by the band. In early 2002, a charitable event would provide the perfect opportunity for The Badlees to come back together and make music once again as a band. Karen Greenberg Revit was a friend of band who died of leukemia in 1998, at the young age of 33. Soon thereafter, a benefit concert was held in her honor, which had since become an annual event. In 2002, Concert for Karen IV was organized and the Badlees decided to do something special. ''Up There, Down Here'' is the fifth full length studio album released by American band The Badlees. It was due to be second released nationally on the Polydor label, but got caught up in constant delays due to the corporate merger of Polygram and Seagram, that formed the new Universal Music Group in 1998. The album was eventually released in August, 1999 on the Ark 21 label, after the Badlees were dropped by Universal. Background The Badlees recorded their follow-up to the blockbuster River Songs in 1997 and it was originally slated to be released for the Christmas season of that year. But after a few delays by Polydor and then the sale to Seagram's put all projects on hold indefinitely in 1998, the project and the band. It was released on their independent label, Rite-Off Records, in April 1999, just as the band was working to get out of their contract with Universal. Background The Badlees recorded their follow-up to the blockbuster River Songs in 1997. The album was called Up There, Down Here and was ready to be published, but the sale of Polygram to Seagram's put all projects on hold indefinitely. Over the final months of 1998 and into 1999, the Badlees played steadily to packed shows in and around Pennsylvania but made little headway with the label that continued to hold them in corporate limbo.
