''Renegades'' is a science fiction novel by American author Marissa Meyer and the first book in the ''Renegades'' trilogy''.'' It was first published in the United States on November 7, 2017, and was succeeded by ''Arch Enemies'', by Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. It became a no. 2 ''New York Times'' bestseller two weeks after its release. Synopsis Premise ''Renegades'' follows Nova (anarchist alias: Nightmare), the niece of the Anarchist leader, Alec Artino (alias: Ace Anarchy). Alec takes Nova in after her parents are viciously murdered by another villain gang before the civil war, and was raised by the Anarchists. "Renegades" is a song by American rock band X Ambassadors. It was released as the second single from the band's debut studio album '' VHS'' on March 3, 2015. It peaked inside the top ten in ten countries, including France, Germany, Canada and Poland, where it reached number one. In the United States, the song peaked at number 17 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The song was nominated for the "Top Rock Song" award at the 2016 ''Billboard'' Music Awards. Background The song was leveraged as a commercial tie-in with the release of the Jeep Renegade. It was delivered very quickly, just a few days after the request was sent in to Interscope Records as the song was nearly complete when Jeep first approached Interscope. The National Indoor Football League (NIFL) was a professional indoor football league in the United States. The Richmond Renegades were an ECHL ice hockey team in Richmond, Virginia that played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1990 until 2003. The Renegades played at the Richmond Coliseum, which they marketed in later years as ''the Freezer''. The Renegades folded in 2003, but were succeeded by the Richmond RiverDogs of the United Hockey League. The Ottawa Renegades were a Canadian Football League franchise based in Ottawa, Ontario founded in 2002, six years after the storied Ottawa Rough Riders folded. After four seasons, the Renegades franchise was suspended indefinitely by the league due to financial instability, and its players were absorbed by the other teams in a dispersal draft. After two years in limbo, the Renegades franchise was awarded to Jeff Hunt, best known as the owner of the Ottawa 67's, in March 2008. The new franchise was revived in 2014 and rebranded as the Ottawa Redblacks. For historical purposes, the CFL classifies the Redblacks, Renegades and Rough Riders as one discontinuous franchise.
