Rene Simpson
Rene Simpson Collins (14 January 1966 – 17 October 2013) was a Canadian professional tennis player from Sarnia, Ontario. She reached a WTA singles ranking of 70 in 1989, and had a successful NCAA career for Texas Christian University. She was a member of the Canada Fed Cup team The Canada women's national tennis represents Canada in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition since 1963. They are overseen by Tennis Canada, the governing body of tennis in Canada. Sarnia
Sarnia is a city in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. It had a 2021 population of 72,047, and is the largest city on Lake Huron. Sarnia is located on the eastern bank of the junction between the Upper and Lower Great Lakes where Lake Huron flows into the St. Clair River in the Southwestern Ontario region, which forms the Canada–United States border, directly across from Port Huron, Michigan. The site's natural harbour first attracted the French explorer La Salle. Puerto Rico Open (tennis)
The Puerto Rico Open is a defunct women's tennis tournament. The first edition dates back to 1971 but only from 1986 to 1993 was the tournament played every year. It was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was played on outdoor hard courts. In 1988, when Tier categories were first introduced on the WTA Tour, the Open became part of Tier IV. One last edition was played in 1995, this time featuring in Tier III. Jeri Ingram (born December 11, 1970) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography Ingram was born in Washington DC and went to school in Montgomery County, Maryland. Kimberly Po (born October 20, 1971) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. In her career, she won the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 2000, partnering Donald Johnson. Irina Spîrlea (born 26 March 1974) is a retired tennis player from Romania who turned professional in 1990. She won four singles and six doubles titles. Spîrlea reached her career-high ranking on the WTA Tour on 13 October 1997, when she became No. 7 in the world. She retired in 2000. Manon Maria Bollegraf (born 10 April 1964) is a former professional tennis player from the Netherlands, who was a quarterfinalist at the singles event of the 1992 French Open, a finalist in doubles at the 1997 Wimbledon Championships, and a four-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion. Virginia Slims Of Houston
The Virginia Slims of Houston is a defunct WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament played from 1970 to 1995. It was held in Houston, Texas in the United States and played on Carpet court, indoor carpet courts from 1970 to 1984 and on Clay court, outdoor clay courts from 1985 to 1995. The event has the distinction of being the first-ever tournament on the professional women's circuit, which would eventually become the WTA Tour. In 1971, the event served as the series WTA Tour Championships, Championships of the inaugural Virginia Slims Tour.
