Rene Paredes
Rene Paredes (born May 15, 1985) is a professional Canadian football placekicker for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a two-time Grey Cup champion after winning with the Stampeders in 2014 and 2018 and is a four-time CFL All-Star. He also won the John Agro Special Teams Award as the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams player in . Early life Paredes was born in Caracas, Venezuela and was raised in Pierrefonds, Quebec. He then played high school football in Miami, Florida. University career After graduating high school, Paredes returned to Montreal to play CIS football for the Concordia Stingers, where he played from 2007 to 2010. Burke Dales
Burke Dales (born February 16, 1977) is a former professional Canadian football punter. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2002. He played CIS Football with the Concordia Stingers. Over his 9-year career Dales played for the Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Eskimos, and Montreal Alouettes. Dales was born in Collingwood, Ontario, and raised in Brockville, Ontario. Punter (football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. The 2012 CFL season was the 59th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it was the 55th season for the Canadian Football League. The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. Kickoff Specialist
A kickoff specialist is a special teams position in gridiron football. They are responsible for kicking the ball in the kickoff. These players tend to have a strong leg, often capable of making touchbacks, and capable of keeping a ball in the bounds of the field of play but do not have the accuracy or technique required to be a full-time placekicker or punter. Placekickers usually double their role as kickoff specialists; pure kickoff specialists are now seldomly-used. Some kickoff specialists later become full-time placekickers, while some are marginal placekickers who are soon out of football. Due to modern roster restrictions (and a 2016 rule change discouraging the kicking of touchbacks by awarding the receiving team possession at the 25-yard line instead of the 20), most NFL teams do not elect to have a kickoff specialist, and instead use their placekickers (or, less often, punters) on kickoffs. The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The 2011 Calgary Stampeders season was the 54th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 73rd overall. Rob Maver (born March 12, 1986) is a retired professional Canadian football Punter, having played his entire 10-year football career with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted fifth overall by the Stampeders in the 2010 CFL Draft, after being highly ranked by the CFL's Amateur Scouting Bureau. He played Canadian Interuniversity Sport football for the Guelph Gryphons. He played high school football for Turner Fenton Trojans. College career Maver attended University of Guelph where he played university football for the Guelph Gryphons as the team's placekicker and punter from 2006-2009. The Concordia Stingers are the athletic teams that represent Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They compete with other schools in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, and more specifically in Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ; French for "Quebec Student Sports Network").
