Renault Clio Rally4
The Renault Clio Rally4 is a rally car developed and built by Renault Sport for the Rally Pyramid regulation of the Rally4 category. It is based upon the Renault Clio road car and used by the crews competing the European Rally Championship-3. Development The Renault Clio Rally4 weighs and features a five-speed sequential gearbox and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is more powerful than that in the Rally5 variant. It features adjustable shock absorbers, using slightly wider tyres at tarmac events than the Rally5 car. The Rally4 car is largely based upon the Rally5 version in most aspects, which itself is derived from the standard road-going ''R.S. Line'' model of the mark five Clio. Rally Pyramid
The FIA Rally Pyramid is the collective description and organisation of championships, car performance classes and driver aptitude in international rallying. In 2019 the FIA rally commission presented a radical overhaul to the rally pyramid to introduce common nomenclature and structure of the international championships and car classes used across the sport in a similar way to terminology used in formula racing. At the top of the pyramid, Rally1 describes elite level of driver aptitude and car performance in the World Rally Championship (WRC). At the foot of the pyramid is Rally5, designed for cost effective introductory rallying competition. Each of the new tiers of the pyramid align numerically with the existing FIA sporting classes introduced in 2014. A shock absorber or damper is a mechanical or hydraulic device designed to absorb and damp shock impulses. It does this by converting the kinetic energy of the shock into another form of energy (typically heat) which is then dissipated. 2021 European Rally Championship
The 2021 European Rally Championship was the 69th season of the FIA European Rally Championship, the European continental championship series in rallying. The season was also the ninth following the merge between the European Rally Championship and the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Alexey Lukyanuk was the reigning champion. The Rally Liepāja is an international rally racing event that travels northwards along the coastline of the Baltic Sea from Liepāja to Ventspils in Latvia. The event is a round of the European Rally Championship and the Latvian Rally Championship. The rally was run for the first time in 2013 as the first international auto racing event to be held in Latvia since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and just the second motorsport event after the motorcycle Speedway Grand Prix of Latvia. Sequential Gearbox
A sequential manual transmission, also known as a sequential gearbox, or a sequential transmission, is a type of non-synchronous manual transmission used mostly for motorcycles and racing cars. It produces faster shift times than traditional synchronized manual transmissions, and restricts the driver to selecting either the next or previous gear, in a successive order. Design A sequential manual transmission is unsynchronized, and allows the driver to select either the next gear (e.g. shifting from first gear to second gear) or the previous gear (e.g., shifting from third gear to second gear), operated either via electronic paddle-shifters mounted behind the steering wheel or with a sequential shifter. The Renault Clio () is a supermini car (B-segment), produced by French automobile manufacturer Renault. It was launched in 1990, and entered its fifth generation in 2019.
