Remillard Brothers
The Remillard brothers and members of their family were successful owners of brick manufacturing plants in Oakland and San Francisco, California from the 1860s to the mid-1900s. The three brothers who founded the brick making company, and started the Remillard fortune, immigrated from St. Valentin (near Napierville), Quebec to California toward the end of the California Gold Rush. Pierre-Nicolas "Peter" Remillard Pierre-Nicolas "Peter" Remillard was born April 2, 1837, at St. Valentin, Quebec. In 1854 he came to California as an aspiring and self-reliant seventeen-year-old. He became involved in gold mining and saved what was later described in his obituary as a "snug sum" of money. In 1861, at the age of twenty-four, he moved to Oakland, where he became an employee of a brickyard. The Galactic Milieu Series is a series of science fiction novels by Julian May. It is linked to her previously-published series, the ''Saga of Pliocene Exile''; and through the fantastical device of time-travel, acts as both a prequel and a sequel to this earlier series. Bruno N Rémillard (born July 7, 1961) is a Canadian mathematical statistician and an honorary professor at HEC Montréal. He is the 2019 Gold Medalist of the Statistical Society of Canada and was inducted as a 2019 Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Rémillard was President of the Statistical Society of Canada in 2022-23. Biography Rémillard was born in Saint-Raphaël, Quebec, Canada. He received a BSc and a MSc in mathematics from Université Laval in 1983 and 1985 and two years later a PhD in probability at Carleton University under the supervision of Donald A. Dawson. Édouard Rémillard
Édouard Rémillard (January 9, 1830 – July 29, 1909) was a lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Bellechasse in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1861 to 1866. He was born in Saint-Gervais, Quebec, the son of Adrien Rémillard and Marguerite Boucher. Rémillard was educated at the Petit Séminaire de Québec, was admitted to the Lower Canada bar in 1856 and set up practice in Quebec City, practising for a time with Christian Pozer. Rémillard also served as captain in the militia. He supported Confederation. In 1860, he married Marie-Émilie Malvina Évanturel, the sister of François Évanturel.
