Remi Rabenirina
Remi Joseph Rabenirina (born 6 March 1938) is a former Malagasy Anglican archbishop. He was Archbishop of the Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean, from 1995 to 2005. Rabenirina was educated at the University of Madagascar. After a brief career as a school teacher, he was ordained an Anglican priest in 1967. He was parish priest at St James’ Toamasina and then held incumbencies at St Matthew's Antsiranana and St John's Ambohimangakely. In 1984, he was elected Bishop of Antananarivo, retiring in 2008; and in 1995 Archbishop of the Indian Ocean, resigning in 2005. The Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean is a province of the Anglican Communion. It covers the islands of Madagascar, Mauritius and the Seychelles. The current Archbishop and Primate is James Wong, Bishop of Seychelles. Anglican realignment The Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean is a member of the Global South and the Global Anglican Future Conference, and has been involved in the Anglican realignment. Archbishop James Wong attended GAFCON III, in Jerusalem, on 17–22 June 2018. The province was represented at the event by a ten-member delegation, six from Madagascar and four from the Seychelles. Ranarivelo Samoela Jaona (born 25 January 1962) is the current Malagasy Anglican bishop of the Diocese of Antananarivo. He was consecrated on the 29 June 2008 at the cathedral of Saint Laurent's in Ambohimanoro, and is the fourth bishop of Antananarivo. He currently chairs the central office of the Eklesia Episkopaly Malagasy (Malagasy Episcopal Church) that unites the Anglican dioceses in Madagascar. The Diocese of Antananarivo is within the Anglican Church of the Indian Ocean Province. Ranarivelo was educated at thEcole Supérieure Polytechnique Antsirananaand Vontovorona. He also studied theology at Institut Supérieur de Théologie et de Philosophie à Madagascar, now the Catholic University of Madagascar, Ambatoroka. Gerald James Ian Ernest (born 30 August 1954) is a Mauritian Anglican bishop. In 2001 he was consecrated as the 15th bishop of Mauritius. From 2006 to 2017 he was archbishop of the Province of the Indian Ocean. Since October 2019 he has been the Archbishop of Canterbury's Personal Representative to the Holy See and Director of the Anglican Centre in Rome. French Kitchener Chang-Him (born 10 May 1938) is a Seychellois Anglican retired bishop who was active in the second half of the 20th century. Born in Seychelles and son of Francis Chang-Him and Amelia Zoé, Chang-Him was educated at Lichfield Theological College and Trinity College, Toronto. He became a primary school teacher in 1958 and was ordained in 1962. After a curacy in Goole he was the rector of Praslin, then Archdeacon of the Seychelles and finally its Vicar general.
