''Release Me'' is a 2012 compilation album of eleven rare and previously unreleased studio performances by American singer Barbra Streisand. A companion compilation of ten more unreleased tracks followed in 2021: '' Release Me 2''. Overview Streisand announced the album's release on her official website in August 2012. It contains tracks recorded between her 1967 ''Simply Streisand'' and 2011 ''What Matters Most'' albums, gathering unreleased material from, among others, '' Stoney End'', ''The Broadway Album'', and ''Back to Broadway''. The compilation's release was accompanied by a series of short video clips posted onto YouTube, in which Barbra discussed every track. A music video for "I Think It's Going to Rain Today" was directed, photographed and edited by Matt Amato. Released in 1971, it was a conscious change in direction for Streisand with a more upbeat contemporary pop/rock sound and was produced by Richard Perry. ''The Movie Album'' is the thirtieth studio album by American singer Barbra Streisand, released on October 14, 2003, by Columbia Records. Overall, her sixtieth release with her record label, it was executively produced by Streisand and her manager, Jay Landers. A concept album, it contains twelve songs from the singer's favorite films ranging in release from 1935 to 1988. While curating the album, Streisand was inspired by her marriage to actor James Brolin to record songs about love and relationships. Matt Amato
Matt Amato is an American film writer and director. His major works include music videos for artists such as Barbra Streisand, Beach House, Bon Iver, Dido, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Soko, and Wild Nothing. He also co-founded the Los Angeles based visual arts collective, The Masses. In 2020, he completed his debut feature, Never My Love. Amato is now documenting the efforts of historic preservationist Larry Giles at the National Building Arts Center. Amato's music video for Trixie Mattel and Shakey Graves was released in 2022. It appears on Julius La Rosa's 1966 album ''You're Gonna Hear from Me'', Eric Burdon's 1967 album ''Eric Is Here'', on Newman's 1968 debut album '' Randy Newman'', in '' The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 1'' (2003), and in Newman's official and bootleg live albums.
