Relatives In Descent
''Relatives in Descent'' is the fourth studio album by American post-punk band Protomartyr released on 29 September 2017. Their first to be released through Domino Recording Company, the album is much darker and more philosophical than its predecessors. While lyrically not a concept album, it is produced so that many songs flow from one to another seamlessly. ''Relatives in Descent'' received critical acclaim upon release, with many publications ranking it one of the best albums of the year. Recording The band hired Sonny DiPerri to co-produce this album (known for his work with Animal Collective). In an interview, lead singer Joe Casey said that "we knew we wanted to go someplace different to record than the previous two records, so we wouldn't get in a rut ..what was so great about Sonny was that he was very locked in to what we wanted." Protomartyr (band)
Protomartyr is an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 2010. The band consists of Joe Casey (vocals), Greg Ahee (guitar), Alex Leonard (drums), and Scott Davidson (bass). In 2020, Kelley Deal joined the band in a touring capacity, providing additional keyboards, guitar and backing vocals. To date, the band has released five studio albums: ''No Passion All Technique'' (2012), '' Under Color of Official Right'' (2014), ''The Agent Intellect'' (2015), '' Relatives in Descent'' (2017) and ''Ultimate Success Today'' (2020). ''Under the Skin'' is a 2013 science fiction film directed by Jonathan Glazer and written by Glazer and Walter Campbell, loosely based on the 2000 novel by Michel Faber. It stars Scarlett Johansson as an otherworldly woman who preys on men in Scotland. The film premiered at Telluride Film Festival on 29 August 2013. It was released in the United Kingdom on 14 March 2014, North America on 4 April 2014, Switzerland on 23 July 2014, and worldwide on 10 August 2014. Máirtín Ó Cadhain
Máirtín Ó Cadhain (; 1906 – 18 October 1970) was one of the most prominent Irish language writers of the twentieth century. Perhaps best known for his 1949 novel ''Cré na Cille'', Ó Cadhain played a key role in reintroducing literary modernism into modern literature in Irish, where it had been dormant since the 1916 execution of Patrick Pearse. Politically, Ó Cadhain was an Irish republican and anti-clerical Marxist, who promoted the ''Athghabháil na hÉireann'' ("Re-Conquest of Ireland"), (meaning both decolonization and re-Gaelicisation). () is an Irish language novel by Máirtín Ó Cadhain. It was first published in 1949. It is considered one of the greatest novels written in the Irish language. Title ''Cré na Cille'' literally means "Earth of the Church"; it has also been translated as ''Graveyard Clay'', ''Graveyard Soil'', ''Graveyard Earth'', ''Church and Clay'' and ''The Dirty Dust''.
