Reise Nach Jerusalem - Kudüs'e Seyahat
For the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, Germany was represented by "Reise nach Jerusalem – Kudüs'e Seyahat", performed by Sürpriz. Both parts of the title translate to "Journey to Jerusalem" in English, in Germany "Reise nach Jerusalem" also is the name for the party game musical chairs. Before Eurovision Countdown Grand Prix 1999 On March 12, the German final was held at the Stadthall in Bremen, and was hosted by Axel Bulthaupt and Sandra Studer (who had taken part in 1991, representing Switzerland as Sandra Simo). There were 11 songs in the final, and the winner was decided by televoting - which was also open to Swiss viewers, since song number 9 was performed by a Swiss act. Sürpriz
Sürpriz were a six-member German- Turkish musical group, consisting of Cihan Özden, Deniz Filizmen, Yasemin Akkar, Filiz Zeyno, Savaş Uçar and Bülent Ural, known for their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999. The word "Sürpriz", means "Surprise" in Turkish. Biography The group was formed by Özden in 1999 specifically in order to enter that year's German Eurovision selection with the song "Reise nach Jerusalem - Kudüs'e seyahat" ("Journey to Jerusalem"), which had been written by regular Eurovision composers Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger. At the original selection held in Bremen on 12 March, "Reise nach Jerusalem - Kudüs'e seyahat" finished in second place behind Corinna May's " Hör den Kindern einfach zu". However, some days later it emerged that May's song had previously been released by another singer in 1997, which contravened Eurovision rules and led to its disqualification. The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 was the 30th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley" by Herreys. Wind (band)
Wind is a German musical group that mostly plays schlager music. The band is still active, more than 30 years after its foundation. History The group was started in 1985 by the composer Hanne Haller. The members of the band at that time were Alexander "Ala" Heiler, Christiane von Kutschenbach, Rainer Höglmeier, Willie Jakob, Sami Kalifa and Petra Scheeser. The group has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for Germany three times. The first time was shortly after the formation of the band, in Eurovision 1985. With the song "Für alle" ("For Everyone") they finished second, just behind the winning duo Bobbysocks from Norway. Patrick Lindner (born 27 September 1960 in Munich, West Germany) is a German Volksmusik singer. Life Born as Friedrich Günther Raab, Lindner worked as a chef before his breakthrough in 1989 when he was second in the Grand Prix der Volksmusik.
