Reidar Liaklev
Reidar Kristofer Liaklev (15 July 1917 – 1 March 2006) was a speed skater from Norway who won the gold medal in the 5000 m event at the 1948 Winter Olympics. Liaklev was a long distance specialist, yet he won the European Allround Championships in 1948. Liaklev won bronze at the junior Norwegian Championships in 1939, and as for most athletes of his time, his career was interrupted by World War II. His first international senior tournament was the 1947 World Allround Championships, where he finished third on the 5,000 m, won the 10,000 m event, and placed fourth overall. In the first Winter Olympics after World War II, in February 1948, Liaklev won the 5000 m in a time of 8:29.4. He also participated in the 10,000 m, but failed to finish due to breathing problems at high altitudes. Two weeks later, he won the European Championships in Hamar. Jaren
Jaren is the administrative centre of Gran Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located about to the northwest of the capital city of Oslo. Jevnaker is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Jevnaker with a population of 4,302. The parish of ''Jævnaker'' was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area of Lunner was separated from the municipality of Jevnaker on 1 January 1898 to form a municipality of its own. Adelskalender (skating)
The Adelskalender in skating is a ranking for long track speed skating based on skaters' all-time personal records for certain distances. As in samalog competitions, the skater's time (measured in seconds) for each distance is divided in 500 metre averages, truncated (not rounded) to 3 decimal places, and the results are then added up – the lower the sum, the better. The samalog system was introduced in 1928 in Norway, replacing ranking points in the traditional 4 distance championships, and can also be used to reconstruct scores based on personal records that were set before the samalog system was invented.
