Paul Reichmann
Paul (Moshe Yosef) Reichmann ( he, משה יוסף רייכמן‎; 27 September 1930 – 25 October 2013) was a Canadian businessman and member of the Reichmann family. He is best known for his leadership of the Olympia & York real estate development company. Formative years Reichmann was born in Vienna in 1930 to Samuel Reichmann, a poultry farmer, and his wife Renée. His parents were Orthodox Jews from a small town in Hungary, but his father had risen to prominence in Vienna as a successful merchant. Paul was the fifth of six children. The family escaped the Nazi occupation of Austria unintentionally. They had left the country on the day of Anschluss to visit Samuel's father in Hungary who had suffered a stroke. Reichman University ( he, אוניברסיטת רייכמן) is Israel's only private university, located in Herzliya, Tel Aviv District. It was founded in 1994 as the IDC Herzliya private college, before being rebranded in 2021. It receives no direct government funding, and in August 2021 became Israel's first private university. Hershel Reichman ( he, רב צבי יוסף רייכמן) (born February 18, 1944) is an Orthodox rabbi and rosh yeshiva of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, an affiliate of Yeshiva University. Education Reichman received a BA from Yeshiva University and Ph.D. in Operations Research from New York University (NYU). Reichman considers himself primarily a student of the twentieth century Talmudic genius Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Harry Richman (born Henry Reichman Jr.; August 10, 1895 – November 3, 1972) was an American singer, actor, dancer, comedian, pianist, songwriter, bandleader, and nightclub performer, at his most popular in the 1920s and 1930s. In his peak years, he was one of the highest‐paid performers in show business. Early life Richman was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Russian Jewish parents Henry and Katie (''née'' Golder) Reichman. His father died when Richman was 14 years old. Career Richman began playing piano in a Cincinnati saloon at age 10. At 18, he changed his name to "Harry Richman", by which time he was already a professional entertainer in vaudeville.
