Reggie And The Full Effect
Reggie and the Full Effect is an American rock band, the solo project of James Dewees, the former keyboardist for The Get Up Kids. It has released seven full-length albums, the latest in 2018, and has toured with various associated acts in their promotion. History Early years (1998–2004) In the mid-1990s when he was playing with Coalesce, Dewees recorded four songs on a cassette tape as a joke, and would hand them out at concerts. After Matt Pryor received one, he urged Dewees to contact Ed Rose to record the material. With Pryor's help, Dewees recorded and released Reggie and the Full Effect's first album, ''Greatest Hits 1984–1987'', on Second Nature Recordings in 1999. In April 2000, Reggie released their second full-length, ''Promotional Copy'', on Vagrant Records. The album caused much confusion in stores because of the album art, which is styled in the same manner as a promotional recording which is not intended to be sold. Ryan Pope is an American musician who lives in Lawrence, Kansas. History Ryan Pope grew up in Olathe, Kansas. In the summer of 1994, he was in a band called "Kingpin" with his brother Rob and future The Get Up Kids bandmate Jim Suptic. After the band broke up due to internal conflicts, Rob and Jim re-formed with Matt Pryor, who had been playing with Secular Theme and friend Nathan Shay on drums to form The Get Up Kids. After Shay quit the band due to a reluctance to tour, the band asked Ryan to become their new drummer. In 1997 the band recorded its first release, Four Minute Mile. Ryan also played drums with Safety in Numbers. He has also toured with Reggie and the Full Effect and The New Amsterdams. From Autumn to Ashes is a post-hardcore band based in Long Island, New York. The group formed in 2000 under the name Who's to Blame. Most of the songs on the album deal with the anger and sadness of going through a divorce. Ed Rose is an American sound engineer and record producer. He has worked extensively with groups in the modern emo and pop punk scenes. He also co-owns Black Lodge Recording with Rob Pope and his brother Ryan Pope, members of the emo band The Get Up Kids. History Rose held an interest in sound recording in his high school years, which was nurtured by his family. One year he got a Fostex X-15 recorder for Christmas. The next year he moved up to a Fostex 250, which he still uses. His interest in sound recording continued to grow, and he decided to attend the Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts. He interned at Studio 55 in Los Angeles. After an ownership change, he left Studio 55 and tried freelancing for six months. However, he found himself doing more technical setup than engineering, so he moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1991 to attend The University of Kansas to get a degree in electrical engineering.
