Reg Bartley
Reginald James Bartley (3 February 1899 – 16 January 1982) was a businessman, company director and List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Sydney, Lord Mayor of Sydney. Life Born in Armidale, New South Wales, Armidale, New South Wales on 3 February 1899, Bartley was the son of Henry and Annie P Bartley of Forbes. In 1929 he was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Bartley was List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Sydney, Lord Mayor of Sydney in 1943–1944 and 1946–1948. He was succeeded by Ernest Charles O'Dea. A Civic Reform Association member, Bartley was attacked by a member of the Communist Party of Australia over a proposal to demolish "Maramonah", a mansion in central Sydney, inhabited by 600 squatters, in order to lay out a park. Bartley's plan was eventually taken up, and the site of the mansion is Fitzroy Gardens in Kings Cross, New South Wales, King's Cross. Ernest Charles O'Dea
Ernest Charles O'Dea (19 February 1889 – 21 November 1976) was an Australian trade union official, Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor Party politician, Lord Mayor of Sydney and Member of the New South Wales Parliament. Early life O'Dea was born in Armidale, New South Wales, Armidale in 1889 and moved to Sydney with his family as a child. Career O'Dea entered the retail trade and moved rapidly through the trade union ranks whilst in his twenties. He served as a Sydney Municipal Council Alderman for two periods (1924–1927 and 1930–1965) and was elected Lord Mayor of Sydney in 1948 for four years. He served two twelve-year terms in the New South Wales Legislative Council between 1942 and 1967. William Neville Harding
William Neville Harding (4 January 1893 – 31 March 1978) was a Taxation accountant, company director and New South Wales local government politician who was Lord Mayor of Sydney and an Alderman of the Sydney City Council from 1935 to 1948. Early years and background William Neville Harding was born in Sydney, Colony of New South Wales, on 4 January 1893, the son of William and Agnes Harding. Harding was educated at the University of Sydney and became a public accountant specialising in taxation, and a company director. On 3 August 1918 he married Constance Agilvie and had two sons and one daughter. From 1911 he was employed as a manager in his father's accountancy firm, but was dismissed in 1928 and later sued his father for unlawful dismissal. In 1929 a jury found in favour of Harding and awarded him £2000 in damages; however, his father appealed and the case was later settled out of court. Stanley Crick
Stanley Sadler Crick (9 October 1888 – 1955) was an Australian film producer, distributor and politician. He joined the Melbourne office of Pathe Freres and became manager of the Sydney branch in 1909. He went into production, first in partnership with Herbert Finlay then helping establish the Australian Photo-Play Company. When that ended in 1912 he went into distribution as managing director of the express Film Service and in 1914 became partner of John C. Jones in another distribution service. He managed Fox Film Corporation's Australian operation from 1919 to 1938, during that time also serving as a chairman of director of Hoyts Theatres. He was an opponent of quotas for Australian films.
