Refugio ( ) is a town in Refugio County, Texas, Refugio County, of which it is the county seat, in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,890 as of the 2010 United States census, 2010 Census. Refugio is the birthplace of National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Baseball Hall of Fame member Nolan Ryan. Geography Refugio is located at (28.305812, −97.274594). Daniel Michael Firova (born October 16, 1956) is an American professional baseball catcher and coach. He is the quality control coach for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. As a player, he caught 17 games: 13 in and three in for the Seattle Mariners, and one in for the Cleveland Indians. In most of those games, he entered late in the game as a defensive replacement.
