Reform Party (Northern Cyprus)
The Freedom and Reform Party ( tr, Özgürlük ve Reform Partisi, ÖRP) was a liberal political party in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The party was formed in 2006 by four former MP's from the National Unity Party (UBP) and the Democratic Party (DP). This party served as the junior coalition partner in the former ''de facto'' TRNC Government consisting of itself and the Republican Turkish Party led by Mehmet Ali Talat. Turgay Avcı
Turgay Avcı is the deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He was the Leader of the former Reform Party (Northern Cyprus). Biography Avcı was born in Larnaca in 1959. After graduating from Famagusta Namık Kemal High School he studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at American University of Beirut, graduating in 1985. He received his master's degree in Business Administration at the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in 1992 and has a doctorate from Çukurova University on Administration and Organization. He attended trainings in USA and Germany in the fields of tourism, administration and quality. Parliament Of Northern Cyprus
The Assembly of the Republic ( tr, Cumhuriyet Meclisi) is the parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It has 50 members, elected for a five-year term by mitigated proportional representation. A party must cross the electoral threshold (5% of the total vote) to be awarded any seats. The parliament is composed of 50 MPs, chosen from six electoral districts, which are coterminous with the districts of Northern Cyprus: Lefkoşa, Gazimağusa, Girne, Güzelyurt, Lefke and İskele. Republican Turkish Party
The Republican Turkish Party ( tr, Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi, CTP) is a social-democratic political party in Northern Cyprus. The party was founded in 1970 by Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu, a lawyer, in opposition to the leadership of Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Denktaş. On 30 June 2008, the Republican Turkish Party became a consultative member of the Socialist International (voted in by all members except the Greek Cypriot Movement for Social Democracy). Mehmet Ali Talat
Mehmet Ali Talat (born 6 July 1952) is a Turkish Cypriot politician who served as the president of Northern Cyprus from 2005 to 2010. Talat was the leader of the social democratic Republican Turkish Party ( tr, Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi, CTP), from 1996 to 2005 and 2015 to 2016. He became prime minister in 2004, and subsequently won the presidential election held on 17 April 2005. Talat was inaugurated on 25 April 2005, succeeding retiring leader Rauf Denktaş. A deputy prime minister or vice prime minister is, in some countries, a government minister who can take the position of acting prime minister when the prime minister is temporarily absent.
