Reed Point Marina
Reed Point Marina is an 800-berth marina in British Columbia, Canada. Reed Point Marina has an onsite yacht broker, [casual dining restaurant], full repairs, fuel dock and 24-hour security. It is situated away from Port Moody, from Vancouver and five minutes from Indian Arm. Reed Point Marina is also involved in marine research. The marina has donated dock space to study Steller sea lions. The research project began in 1993 and the lead investigators include Drs. Andrew Trites and David Rosen from the University of British Columbia. Facilities Boatyard Reed Point Marina has a boatyard which accommodates all boats that can be lifted by the marina's 50 Ton Shiplift, TraveLift. Port Moody
Port Moody is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. Indian Arm
Indian Arm ( hur, səl̓ilw̓ət) is a steep-sided glacial fjord adjacent to the city of Vancouver in southwestern British Columbia. Formed during the last Ice Age, it extends due north from Burrard Inlet, between the communities of Belcarra (to the east) and the District of North Vancouver (to the west), then on into mountainous wilderness. Burrard Inlet and the opening of Indian Arm was mapped by Captain George Vancouver and fully explored days later by Dionisio Alcalá Galiano in June 1792. Geography Indian Arm is a salt-water fjord that extends about north from Burrard Inlet. There are no crossings, and road access is limited to the communities on the southern portion of the arm. Steller Sea Lion
The Steller sea lion (''Eumetopias jubatus''), also known as the Steller's sea lion and northern sea lion, is a near-threatened species of sea lion in the northern Pacific. It is the sole member of the genus ''Eumetopias'' and the largest of the eared seals (Otariidae). Among pinnipeds, only the walrus and the two species of elephant seals are bigger. Shiplift
A shiplift is a modern alternative for a slipway, a floating dry dock or a graving dry dock. A shiplift is used to dry dock and launch ships. It consists of a structural platform that is lifted and lowered exactly vertically, synchronously by a number of hoists. First, the platform is lowered underwater, then the ship is floated above the support, and finally the platform with support and ship is lifted and the ship is brought to the level of the quay. Rocky Point Park
Rocky Point Park, also known as Rocky Point, is situated along Burrard Inlet in Port Moody, British Columbia, next to the Port Moody Station Museum. It is 3.8 hectares in size, and is the most well-known park in Port Moody. Rocky Point has a variety of amenities including an outdoor swimming pool, splash pad, skateboard park, boat launch, hiking and cycling trails, and wildlife viewing. There is also a covered performance stage, and new warden houses have been built. The Old Mill Boat House is also located on the property, as well as a kayak and sailboat rental shack. A berth is a designated location in a port or harbour used for mooring vessels when they are not at sea. Berths provide a vertical front which allows safe and secure mooring that can then facilitate the unloading or loading of cargo or people from vessels. Locations in a port Berth is the term used in ports and harbors for a designated location where a vessel may be moored, usually for the purposes of loading and unloading. Berths are designated by the management of a facility (e.g., port authority, harbor master). Vessels are assigned to berths by these authorities.
