Reebok Cup
The first-ever Reebok Cup, an international football tournament featuring four of the world's most powerful club teams, was held in the United States at the Orange Bowl in Miami and Soldier Field in Chicago on July 25 and 27, 1997, respectively. It was formally announced on May 1, 1997, by Reebok International Ltd. The inaugural Reebok Cup, endorsed by FIFA and the U.S. Soccer Federation, showcased clubs from Brazil, Germany, Mexico and Colombia. Representing Europe was the then five-time German League champion and two-time UEFA Cup winners Borussia Mönchengladbach. The American continent was represented by SE Palmeiras of Brazil, 1996 Brazilian Cup vice-champions; Necaxa of Mexico, winners of the 1995 Mexico League championship; and Club Atletico Junior, from Barranquilla the 1993 and 1995 Colombian League Champions. Reebok
Reebok International Limited () is an American fitness footwear and clothing manufacturer that is a part of Authentic Brands Group. It was established in England in 1958 as a companion company to J.W. Foster and Sons, a sporting goods company which had been founded in 1895 in Bolton, Lancashire. From 1958 until 1986, the brand featured the flag of Great Britain in its logo to signify the origins of the company. It was bought by German sporting goods company Adidas in 2005, then sold to Authentic Brands Group in 2021. The company's global headquarters are located in Boston, Massachusetts, in the Seaport District. Álex Aguinaga
Álex Dario Aguinaga Garzón (, born 9 July 1969) is an Ecuadorian former professional football player and manager. A midfielder during his playing career, he is one of the all-time cap leaders for Ecuador with 109 matches, scoring 23 goals. Aguinaga is known as one of the best Ecuadorian footballers of all time. On the club level, Aguinaga has played for Deportivo Quito, Necaxa, Cruz Azul and LDU Quito. Club career Necaxa Aguinaga spent the majority of his club career at Necaxa, whom he joined in 1989, winning 3 championships with the club. In 1999 Aguinaga was crucial for Necaxa's first CONCACAF Champions Cup title. Necaxa would go on to participate in the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup where in the group stage Aguinaga scored against Vasco da Gama, but missed a penalty against Manchester United.
