Redwood Pioneers
The Redwood Pioneers were a minor league baseball of California League. They were part of the California Angels farm system. The Pioneers played in Rohnert Park, California during the early 1980s (1980–85). The team produced players such as Kirk McCaskill, Mark McLemore and Devon White. Ballpark The team originally played at a field adjacent to Mountain Shadows Middle School, and then at Rohnert Park Stadium when it was completed in 1981. The stadium was torn down in 2005. California League
The California League is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in California. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A West before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, league attendance continued to increase each season, with over one million fans attending games per year, part of a general nationwide growth and expansion to smaller towns, cities, and regions below those in the National League or American League with Minor League Baseball at various levels of play in growing popularity in the last few decades. Ed Ott
Nathan Edward Ott (born July 11, 1951), nicknamed "Otter", is an American former professional baseball player, coach and manager. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1974 to 1981, most notably as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates with whom he won a World Series championship in . He also played for the California Angels. Ott was a left-handed batter and threw right-handed. Major League career Ott was born in Muncy, Pennsylvania, where he attended Muncy High School. He is not known to be related to Baseball Hall of Fame member Mel Ott. Although Muncy High School did not have a baseball team, Ott excelled at football and wrestling. In the summer, he played American Legion Baseball where he became a standout third baseman. Richard Craig Schofield (born November 21, 1962) is an American former professional baseball shortstop. He played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1983 to 1996 for the California Angels, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Jack Robert Howell (born August 18, 1961) is an American former professional baseball third baseman. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on May 20, 1985, with the California Angels, and played his final game on July 17, 1999, with the Houston Astros. Early life Howell was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He attended Pima Community College and then the University of Arizona, where he played baseball for the Arizona Wildcats. Career Howell played for three different MLB teams during his professional career. He started with the California Angels where he from 1987 to 1989 averaged hitting 20 home runs per season until being traded to the San Diego Padres.
