Alan Redway
Alan Redway, (born 11 March 1935) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician. After a career in municipal politics culminating in the role of mayor of East York, a borough of Metropolitan Toronto, Redway entered federal politics. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1984 election as the Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament for York East, now Don Valley East. In 1989, he was appointed to the Cabinet of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney as Minister of State for Housing, including responsibility for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Redway, a Red Tory and supporter of public investment in housing, was forced to resign from Cabinet in 1991 for contravening the ''Aeronautics Act'' by joking that his friend was carrying a gun while boarding a plane at Ottawa International Airport. Mike Redway
Mike Redway (born 1939 in Hunslet) is the stage name for Michael Reddyhoff an English singer, songwriter and record producer. He began his career in the late 1950s as a backing vocalist for Embassy Records. Life and career Redway was the son of a pub landlord and a baker. He was educated at All Saints School and began singing at a young age – touring the local working men's clubs alongside his brother. In 1959, he was signed onto Embassy Records as a backing vocalist. Having worked as a backing vocalist, Mike recorded his first single for Embassy in 1962 alongside Ray Pilgrim, and recorded a further 28 singles on the Embassy label in this period. During the sixties he was asked to understudy Frank Sinatra on a Tony Hatch produced record, which was never released commercially. In 1967 Mike was approached by Burt Bacharach to perform the vocal on the song ''Have No Fear, James Bond is Here'' - which was used for the credit-roll of the 1967 spoof film '' Casino Royale''. Millicent Redway
Millicent Redway is a Jamaican-Canadian businessperson and publisher with a passion for Black economic development. She is best known as publisher of Black Pages directory and for her pioneering efforts in the multicultural marketing industry in Canada. Born in Kingston, Jamaica to Alva George Redway and Eunice Afflick, Redway at age 11, together with a younger brother and sister moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada to join their mother who had migrated a year earlier. At an early age, Redway became very active in community-building activities in Montreal's Black community playing leading roles in a variety of key socio-economic organizations like the NDG Black Community Centre, the Cote des Neiges Project, Black Community Council of Quebec and Montreal Association of Black Business Persons and Professionals.
