Redvers Kyle
Redvers Buller Kyle (25 November 1929 – 18 November 2015) was a South African-born British broadcaster, voice over artist, actor and composer, best known for his work on the ITV network in the United Kingdom over forty years. Biography Redvers Kyle was born in Germiston, South Africa and named after General Sir Redvers Buller, the British military commander in the early stages of the Anglo-Boer War. During his university studies, he began his broadcasting career with the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Johannesburg, mostly in children's programmes, and appeared in dramatic productions including ''Boy with a Cart'', which won him an award at a national drama festival. Kyle emigrated to England in August 1952, and spent a year as a primary school teacher in south London before becoming a freelance radio and television broadcaster. ITV News ''Calendar'' is a British television news service broadcast and produced by ITV Yorkshire. Overview The news service transmits to Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, northwestern Norfolk and parts of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas of England. ITV Yorkshire, previously known as Yorkshire Television and commonly referred to as just YTV, is the British television service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the Yorkshire franchise area on the ITV (TV network), ITV network. Until 1974, this was primarily the historic county of Yorkshire and parts of neighbouring counties served by the Emley Moor transmitting station, Emley Moor transmitter. Austin Mitchell
Austin Vernon Mitchell (19 September 1934 – 18 August 2021) was a British academic, journalist and Labour Party (UK), Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), member of Parliament (MP) for Great Grimsby (UK Parliament constituency), Great Grimsby from a 1977 Great Grimsby by-election, 1977 by-election to 2015 United Kingdom general election, 2015. He was also the chair of the Labour Euro-Safeguards Campaign. Before becoming an MP in the United Kingdom, Austin Mitchell was a well known television broadcaster in New Zealand. Victor Lewis-Smith (12 May 1957 – 10 December 2022) was a British film, television and radio producer, a television and restaurant critic, a satirist and newspaper columnist. He was executive producer of the ITV1 Annual National Food & Drink Awards. He was an alumnus of the University of York and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Westminster in November 2008. Graham Roberts (actor)
Graham Roberts (10 October 1929 – 28 October 2004) was an English actor best known for his work on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4, including 31 years playing George Barford, the gamekeeper in Radio 4 soap opera ''The Archers''. He was born and raised in Chester, and was educated at King's School in the city. Later, he studied at Bristol and later Manchester University. He also appeared on film and television, including the series ''Z Cars''. He was also a continunuity announcer with Yorkshire Television until 1993, alongside announcing colleague Redvers Kyle - both announcers made a rare in-vision appearance on the regional news programme ''Calendar'' the same evening. ''Sez Les'' is a British sketch comedy show that starred Les Dawson. It was produced by Yorkshire Television, and aired on ITV from 1969 to 1976. Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough (who was a cast member from series four onward) regularly performed together as the characters Cissie and Ada.
