Redmond is a city in Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. Incorporated on July 6, 1910, the city is on the eastern side of Oregon's Cascade Range, in the High Desert in Central Oregon. Redmond is a town in Sevier County, Utah, United States. The population was 730 at the 2010 census. Redmond was first settled in 1876, and named for red mounds to the west of the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km2), of which 1.0 square mile (2.5 km2) is land and 0.04 square mile (0.1 km2) (2.02%) is water. Climate This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. John Redmond Reservoir is a reservoir on the Neosho River in eastern Kansas. Built and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it is used for flood control, recreation, water supply, and wildlife management. It borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge to the northwest. History The Neosho River valley flooded more than 50 times in the 30 years leading up to 1950 when the U.S. Congress authorized the flood control project that later became John Redmond Dam and Reservoir. It was authorized and awaiting construction during the Great Flood of 1951 which inundated downtown Burlington and Strawn where some locations had floodwater deep. Originally, Congress authorized the project under the Flood Control Act of 1950 as Strawn Dam in reference to Strawn, the town located where the reservoir is today. Redmond is a town in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. It is located 399 km south-south-east of Perth and the closest populated town is Albany. The town began when a railway siding was opened in the area in 1912 which was initially called ''Mulikupp''. The townsite was later renamed to Redmond. In 1913 blocks were subdivided and by 1916 a school had been built and the town was gazetted. It is thought that the town was named after the Irish Nationalist leader, John Edward Redmond.
