Redhills are a Gaelic football club from Redhills, County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History Football was first organised in 1888 in Redhills under the name Annagh sons of Usna. Kit Redhills jersey is mainly yellow with blue trim, blue shorts with yellow trim and blue socks with yellow trim. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. Redhills, County Cavan
Redhills () is a village located in northern County Cavan, Ireland. It is near the N54 road (Ireland), N54 road and is home to Redhills GFC, Redhills GAA club, which has produced four Cavan GAA, Cavan Inter-County players. The Finn River (County Fermanagh and County Monaghan), Finn River flows a short distance to the north of Redhills. The 1992 film, ''The Playboys'', was filmed on location in the village, as was the 1995 film ''The Run of the Country''. Both films were scripted by My Left Foot (film)#Awards and nominations, Oscar nominee and Redhills native, Shane Connaughton. The Cavan County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae an Chabháin) or Cavan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Cavan. The County Board is responsible for preparing the Cavan county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling, camogie and handball. The county football team won 5 All-Ireland Senior Football Championships before going into decline after 1970. Cavan Intermediate Football Championship
The Cavan Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the middle-tier Gaelic football clubs organised by Cavan GAA. It was first competed for in 1915, before a lapse prior to being revived in 1966. The winners qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The 2022 champions are Castlerahan who beat Ballyhaise in the final. Format 14 teams will contest the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Football Championship. The I.F.C. shall be run on a league basis up to the Quarter-Final stage and Knock-out thereafter. The winner qualifies to represent their county in the Ulster Club Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship.
