The Redfern All Blacks, also known as RABs or Redfern, are an Indigenous Australian semi-professional rugby league club based in Redfern, New South Wales, They are a part of the South Sydney District Junior Rugby Football League. History Redfern All Blacks is the oldest Indigenous Australian rugby league club in Australia. It was co-founded in 1938 by Bill Onus and Wesley Simms, during the Great Depression. Some reports suggest that the club was officially established by a group of non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal people in 1944. The club, often referred to as RABs or Redfern, was named after their black guernseys, part of the uniform provided by the South Sydney District Junior Rugby Football League in their first playing season. Redfern Oval
Redfern Oval is an Australian football ground, in the Sydney suburb of , New South Wales, Australia. The South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League Football Club played at Redfern Oval between 1948 and 1987. Rabbitoh supporters often refer to Redfern Oval as "The Holy Land". Description The former National Rugby League ground had a main grandstand on the wing with seats on either side and a hill surrounding the rest of the ground with a few rows of seats near the fence. The total capacity of the ground was around the 20,000 mark, until the redevelopment. The current ground has a lone grandstand with bench style seating, with the structure incorporating the Rabbitohs' training equipment/gym, as well as a cafe and basic luxury hospitality. The seating is covered by a large roof spanning the width of the structure. The stand is wheelchair accessible and also contains hearing loop accessibility. Tony Mundine (boxer)
Anthony William Mundine OAM (born 9 June 1951) is an Australian former boxer, and one of the country's most accomplished indigenous fighters. The only Australian boxer to compete professionally in four weight divisions, he held the Australian middleweight, light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight titles, as well as the Commonwealth middleweight and light heavyweight titles. He also challenged once for the WBA world middleweight title in 1974. He is the father of former world champion boxer Anthony Mundine, and cousin of Warren Mundine. Mundine was the 2005 Inductee for the Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame Moderns category. Rugby League Mundine played centre three-quarter for a Grafton Rugby league team. Darrell Wayne 'Tricky' Trindall (born 16 February 1972) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. Gorden James Tallis (born 27 July 1973), also known by the nickname of "Raging Bull" for his on-field aggression, is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s.
