Alastair Redfern
Alastair Llewellyn John Redfern (born 1 September 1948) is a retired Church of England bishop, who served as Bishop of Derby from 2005 to 2018. Early life and education Redfern studied at Christ Church, Oxford. He received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 2001 from the University of Bristol. His doctoral thesis was titled "Oversight and authority in the nineteenth century church of England: a case study of Bishop Samuel Wilberforce". Ordained ministry Redfern was ordained a deacon at Petertide 1976 (27 June) and a priest the following Petertide (26 June 1977), both times by Kenneth Skelton, Bishop of Lichfield, at Lichfield Cathedral. He served as a curate in Wolverhampton. He then became a lecturer and later vice principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon. Nicholas Redfern (born 1964) is a British best-selling author, journalist, cryptozoologist and ufologist. William Redfern
William Redfern (1774 – 17 July 1833) was an English-raised surgeon in early colonial Australia who was transported to New South Wales as a convict for his role in the Mutiny on the Nore. He is widely regarded as the “father of Australian medicine“. Early life William Redfern was born in County Antrim and raised in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. He was surgeon's apprentice to his older brother Thomas and passed the examination of the London Company of Surgeons in 1797. He was commissioned as a surgeon's mate aboard the 64-gun . Sir Arthur Shuldham Redfern, KCVO, CMG (13 June 1895 – 18 February 1985) was a British colonial administrator in the Sudan, and then Secretary to the Governor General of Canada from 1935 to 1945. Biography The elder son of Dr J. J. Redfern, Shuldham Redfern was educated at Winchester College and Trinity College, Cambridge. During the First World War, he served in the Royal Flying Corps, then the Royal Air Force, reaching the rank of Major. Rebecca Redfern (born 19 December 1999) is a British visually impaired para-swimmer from Droitwich who competes in S13/SB13/SM13 disability categories. She has held British, European and World records in SB13 100m breaststroke. Paul Redfern (24 February 1902 – August 1927?) was an American musician and pilot. In August 1927, Redfern became the first person to fly solo across the Caribbean Sea and the first to fly nonstop from North to South America He has never been found or heard from since he was observed flying inland over Venezuela. Redfern's flight was twelve weeks after Charles Lindbergh made his historic flight from New York to Paris. In 1929, Lindbergh came close to skimming the sands of the Sea Island, Georgia, beach Redfern took off from and dropped carnations in his fellow flyer's honor. If Redfern had reached his final destination, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, his flight would have outdistanced Lindbergh. Anthea Bernice Redfern (born 15 April 1948) is a British former television host, best known as the assistant to Bruce Forsyth, her husband of six years, on the BBC's ''The Generation Game'' during its first run in the 1970s.
