''Redemption Songs'' is the sixth full-length studio album by Jars of Clay. It was released by Essential Records on March 22, 2005. Overview ''Redemption Songs'' is a collection of reinvented hymns and spiritual songs. As part of a church community that believed passionately the blessing of understanding the story of redemption through early church songs and ancient hymns, Jars of Clay found themselves a part of a growing renaissance, one that inspired them to write new songs using the rich hymn texts as the foundation. This renaissance was the beginning of ''Redemption Songs'', a blend of familiar hymns, spirituals, and ancient texts. "They'll Know We Are Christians" ''(also known as "They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love" or "We Are One in the Spirit")'' is a Christian hymn written in the 1960s by Catholic priest Fr. Peter Scholtes. The title of the song originates in a phrase that non-believers used to describe Christians believers of early Church: "Behold, how they love one another." The song was released on an LP of the same name featuring the congregation of Fr. Scholtes' church, St. Brendan's on the south side of Chicago. Jacquire King
Jacquire King (born January 11, 1967) is an American record producer, recording engineer and mixer. King has worked with such notable artists as Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, James Bay, Kaleo, Modest Mouse, Shania Twain, Buddy Guy, Norah Jones, Of Monsters and Men, Cold War Kids, Punch Brothers, City and Colour, Robert Ellis, Dawes and others. His work has received more than 35 Grammy Award nominations to date. Career King had his initial training in recording engineering at Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio. His first studio employment was in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1988, he moved to California and got a job at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco. King later interned for Dan Alexander at Coast Recorders, which led to him helping two friends open Toast Studios, where he began working as an assistant. Robert Beeson
Robert Beeson is a music executive. He founded Essential Records in 1992, home to artists Jars of Clay and Third Day, along with Caedmon's Call, Bebo Norman and FFH. He also created the City On a Hill series. He became Senior VP A&R for Provident Music Group after they bought Essential, working with Casting Crowns, and Michael W. Smith. He left Provident Music Group in 2006 and formed iShine Records, a faith-based music/multimedia company geared specifically towards the tween marketplace. The Blind Boys of Alabama, also billed as The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and Clarence Fountain and the Blind Boys of Alabama, is an American gospel group. The group was founded in 1939 in Talladega, Alabama, and has featured a changing roster of musicians over its history, the majority of whom are or were vision impaired. The Blind Boys found mainstream success following their appearance in the 1983 Obie Award-winning musical ''The Gospel at Colonus''. Andrew Osenga
Andrew Osenga is an American singer-songwriter and rock musician. He also writes, produces, engineers and plays guitar for other artists. Formerly the lead singer of The Normals, who broke up in 2003 for financial and family reasons, Osenga currently pursues a solo career in which he has released four albums. He is also a former member of the band Caedmon's Call; he had taken over as vocalist/guitarist while Derek Webb was gone from the band. Counting Crows is an American rock band from San Francisco, California. Matt Odmark
Matthew Thomas Odmark (born January 25, 1974) is an American musician most known for being a guitarist for Christian alternative folk rock group Jars of Clay. Biography Matthew Odmark was raised in Rochester, New York where he attended McQuaid Jesuit High School. He studied English literature at the University of Rochester. As a youth he knew pianist Charlie Lowell. When guitarist Matt Bronleewe left Lowell's band Jars of Clay, Odmark took his place as guitarist and backing vocalist. In 2001, Jars of Clay were awarded honorary graduations from Greenville College due to their demonstrated understanding of their craft.
