Red Zebra Broadcasting
Red Zebra Broadcasting was a sports marketing company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. The company owned and operated four radio stations in the greater Washington, D.C. radio market, one in Hampton Roads, VA, and two stations in Richmond, Virginia. Red Zebra announced the sale of its remaining station, WTEM, in May, 2018. The official transfer took place in August 2018, at which point Red Zebra was officially disbanded. Red Zebra’s flagship stations were WTEM ("ESPN 980") and WSPZ ("Sports Talk 570") in Washington. WTEM focused on local sports talk, while WSPZ In Richmond, Virginia ESPN affiliate WXGI, 950AM “The Game” was branded as an ESPN Radio outlet providing daily sports programming. WDCJ
WDCJ (92.7 FM), known on air as "Majic 102.3 & 92.7," is an urban adult contemporary formatted radio station licensed to Prince Frederick, Maryland, and serving the southeastern Washington metropolitan area. The station's programming is a relay of WMMJ (102.3 FM) in Bethesda, Maryland History 92.7 FM signed on August 1, 1971 as WESM, a local station serving Calvert County, Maryland with country music. Original owners George Gautney and Carl Jones sold the station to Mel Gollub's MJS Communications in 1973. As WMJS, the station continued as country at first, but later flipped to adult contemporary in 1985 and again to easy listening in 1987. In 2000, Mega Communications bought the station. Under the new callsign WBZS-FM, it joined a simulcast with WBPS (94.3 FM, Warrenton, Virginia) to create a metro-wide network for its "La Nueva Mega" Spanish-language adult contemporary format. Brian Keith Mitchell (born August 18, 1968) is a former American football running back and return specialist in the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisiana (then known as ''University of Southwestern Louisiana'') where he was a quarterback. Mitchell is considered one of the greatest return specialists in NFL history. Mitchell also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Chris Cooley (American Football)
Christopher Ken Cooley (born July 11, 1982) is a former American football tight end who played for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Utah State University, and was drafted by the Redskins in the third round of the 2004 NFL draft. Early years Cooley attended Logan High School in Logan, Utah, and lettered in football, wrestling, and baseball. As a senior football tight end, he caught 45 passes for 625 yards (13.34 yards per rec. avg.) and on defense, added eight sacks and numerous tackles. In wrestling, he posted a 54–0 record his senior season and won the state championship and All-America honors. The Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represents the University of Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I competition.
