Red Sox Nation is a term used for fans of the Boston Red Sox. The phrase was coined by ''Boston Globe'' feature writer Nathan Cobb in an October 20, 1986, article about split allegiances among fans in Connecticut during the 1986 World Series between the Red Sox and the New York Mets. Red Sox fandom Red Sox fans were once described by Dennis Eckersley as the "ultimate manic-depressive fanbase." The Royal Rooters were a fan club for Boston's professional baseball team in the American League in the early 20th century. The team was known as the Boston Americans during the 1901–1907 seasons, and has been known as the Boston Red Sox since the 1908 season. The Royal Rooters disbanded in 1918. The BLOHARDS (Benevolent Loyal Order of Honorable Ancient Redsox Diehard Sufferers) are a New York City-based group that supports the Boston Red Sox baseball team. History The BLOHARDS were founded around 1965 by Jim Powers of Weston, Connecticut when about dozen New York City-based Red Sox fans got together to drink and discuss the Red Sox. Author Henry Berry served as senior vice president. The group pulls most of its members from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Jerry Remy
Gerald Peter Remy (November 8, 1952 – October 30, 2021) was an American professional baseball player and sports broadcaster. Remy played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a second baseman for ten seasons—three with the California Angels (1975–1977) and seven with the Boston Red Sox (1978–1984). After retiring from professional play, he served for 33 years as a color commentator for televised Red Sox games until his death. Remy began commentating with the cable channel New England Sports Network (NESN) in 1988, and later expanded to over-the-air television in 1995. Determinism is a philosophical view, where all events are determined completely by previously existing causes.
