Red Rose (1980 Film)
''Red Rose'' is a 1980 Indian Hindi-language psychological thriller film, starring Rajesh Khanna and Poonam Dhillon. It is a remake of the Tamil film ''Sigappu Rojakkal'', made by the same director Bharathiraja and the same cinematographer P. S. Nivas. Plot Anand is a successful businessman with a dark side. He preys on nubile girls, seduces and kills them. These proceedings are video-recorded and watched by his adoptive father and mentor, another deranged woman-hater who, as with Anand, had a disillusioning experience with the female sex in his past. The old man stays holed up in a far corner of Anand's mansion watching his son carry out what he is too infirm to do. The murdered girls are buried in Anand's garden and a rosebush is grown above them. Anand chances upon an undergarments salesgirl, Sharda and develops an attraction for her. Bharathiraja
Bharathiraja (born 17 July 1941) is an Indian film director and actor who works mainly in the Tamil film industry. Making his debut in 1977 with ''16 Vayathinile'', he is known for realistic and sensitive portrayals of rural life in his films. As of 2017, he has won six National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards South, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and a Nandi Awards, Nandi Award. He has also directed films in Telugu language, Telugu and Hindi language, Hindi. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri award, India's fourth-highest civilian honour, in 2004 for his contribution to the film industry. In 2005, he was conferred with the Doctor of Letters (honorary degree) from Sathyabama University. Muqtida Hasan Nida Fazli, known as Nida Fazli (12 October 1938 – 8 February 2016), was a prominent Indian Hindi and Urdu poet, lyricist and dialogue writer. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2013 by the government of India for his contribution to literature. Early life and background Born in New Delhi, into a Kashmiri Muslim family, Nida Fazli grew up in Gwalior, where he attended school and subsequently studied English literature.
