Red Bank is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 9,617 at the 2010 census, up from 8,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Red Bank is located just east of the center of Lexington County at (33.932005, -81.230211). It is bordered to the north by Lexington, the county seat, and to the south by the White Knoll CDP. South Carolina Highway 6 (S. Lake Drive) is the main road through town, leading north to the center of Lexington and south to Edmund. Platt Springs Road (South Carolina Highway 602 east of SC-6) forms the border between Red Bank and White Knoll. Highway 602 leads northeast to West Columbia. Congaree River
The Congaree River is a short but wide river in South Carolina in the United States; It flows for approximately 53 miles (85 km). The river serves an important role as the final outlet channel for the entire Lower Saluda and Lower Broad watersheds, before merging with the Wateree River just north of Lake Marion to form the Santee River. It is formed in Columbia by the confluence of the Saluda and Broad rivers near the Piedmont Fall Line. It serves as part of the boundary between Richland, Calhoun, and Lexington counties. Route description SC 602 begins at an intersection with SC 6 (South Lake Drive) on the southern edge of Red Bank, within Lexington County, where the roadway continues as Platt Springs Road.
