Record Collection (record Label)
Record Collection is an independent Los Angeles, California-based creative music studio founded by Jordan Tappis. Record Collection is home to a diverse roster which includes music from current Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist John Frusciante, The Walkmen, Blake Mills, Dawes, Murs, Black Knights and management clients Blake Mills, Matt Sweeney and Fiona Apple. Notable releases Between June 2004 and February 2005, the label released a series of six albums by John Frusciante. One album, ''Automatic Writing (album)'', was released under the band name Ataxia (which was composed of Frusciante, Joe Lally and Josh Klinghoffer). The album ''A Sphere in the Heart of Silence'' was released with Josh Klinghoffer. The records each show a different side of Frusciante's musical style, going from crude rock (''Inside of Emptiness'') to Pop (''DC EP'') and even electronic music (''A Sphere in the Heart of Silence''). Kaiser Chiefs
Kaiser Chiefs are an English indie rock band from Leeds who formed in 2000 as Parva, releasing one studio album, ''22'', in 2003, before renaming and establishing themselves in their current name that same year. Since their formation the band has consisted of lead vocalist Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew "Whitey" White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick "Peanut" Baines and since 2013 drummer Vijay Mistry, who replaced founding drummer Nick Hodgson following his departure from the band in late 2012. Inside Of Emptiness
''Inside of Emptiness'' is the sixth studio album by American musician John Frusciante, released on October 26, 2004 on Record Collection, and is the fourth in a series of six releases, issued from June 2004 to February 2005. The album features contributions from Josh Klinghoffer and Omar Rodríguez-López. Frusciante notes, "It's really powerful, but in a gentle way. There's a soothing quality. It has hard things on it, and even the soft things have a heaviness to them. The song "Scratches" is emotionally heavy to me, even though it's not distorted guitars and bashing drums. There's another song about a couple's baby dying. There's a lot of spontaneity and recklessness and not giving a fuck." The vinyl edition of the record saw a repressing from Record Collection on December 11, 2012. Funeral Party
Funeral Party is an American alternative rock band, formed in 2005. The band's line-up consists of vocalist Chad Elliott, guitarist James Lawrence Torres, bassist Kimo Kauhola, and multi instrumentalist Tim Madrid. History The original members formed the band one night in a park in their hometown of Whittier, California, a suburb just outside Los Angeles, California, choosing to name themselves after The Cure song of the same name. The band became their ticket out of Whittier: "We all came from the same shitty town, and you have two choices: grow up and get a job or get out. That's what we tried to do with the band..." Funeral Party tirelessly performed every weekend at backyard parties and warehouses in the Los Angeles area. The Empyrean
''The Empyrean'' is the eighth solo album by American musician John Frusciante, released worldwide on January 20, 2009 through Record Collection. Frusciante did not plan on a following tour, as he instead wanted to focus on writing and recording. ''The Empyrean'' peaked at number 151 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 as well as number seven on the Top Heatseekers. On release it made number 105 on the UK Albums Chart. Frusciante said that the record "was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008," and is a concept album that tells "a single story both musically and lyrically." ''The Empyrean'' contains a version of Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren", from his 1970 album '' Starsailor''. Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O (born Karen Lee Orzolek), guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. They are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo (formerly of Slint and Tortoise), who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif, who had previously held the role. The Killers
The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). After going through a number of short-term bass players and drummers in their early days, both Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) joined the band in 2002. The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band currently consists of Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Drozd (guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, vocals), Derek Brown (keyboards, guitars, percussion), Matt Duckworth Kirksey (drums, percussion, keyboards) and Nicholas Ley (percussion, drums). Greeley Estates
Greeley Estates was an American metalcore band from Maricopa County, Arizona. Formed in 2002, the band released five full-length studio albums and four EPs. The group initially had an emo-influenced post-hardcore sound, but later shifted to the metalcore genre with their third studio album ''Go West Young Man, Let the Evil Go East'' (2008). Greeley Estates signed to Tragic Hero Records and Ferret Music in 2009 and released their fourth full-length album ''No Rain, No Rainbow'' in 2010, which features an even heavier sound. The band released their fifth and most recent full-length ''The Death of Greeley Estates'' on August 9, 2011 (not to be confused with their 2005 DVD of the same name), to which its sound was cited by vocalist Ryan Zimmerman as a hybrid between their previous two albums.
