Reclusione Militare
Reclusione Militare is a term for time served in a military jail by members of the Italian Armed Forces. The term of the sentences that may be served by inmates ranges from a minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 30 years. All service members sentenced must do hard labor while incarcerated. Anyone sentenced to more than 5 years is discharged from the armed forces and may not return. Officers who are sentenced and have not been given a reduction in rank from officer have the right to serve their time in a special section of the military jail. A military prison is a prison operated by a military. Military prisons are used variously to house prisoners of war, unlawful combatants, those whose freedom is deemed a national security risk by the military or national authorities, and members of the military found guilty of a serious crime. Italian Armed Forces
The Italian Armed Forces ( it, Forze armate italiane, ) encompass the Italian Army, the Italian Navy and the Italian Air Force. A fourth branch of the armed forces, known as the Carabinieri, take on the role as the nation's military police and are also involved in missions and operations abroad as a combat force.
