Isaac Reckitt
Isaac Reckitt (1792–1862) was the founder of Reckitt and Sons, a business that emerged to become Reckitt, one of the United Kingdom's largest consumer goods businesses. Career Initially establishing a milling business in Boston with his older brother and then a corn business in Nottingham on his own, Isaac Reckitt acquired a starch-making business in Hull in 1840. Under his leadership the business diversified into black lead and washing blue manufacturing. By the time of his death in 1862 the business employed 210 people and had become one of the most successful businesses in Hull. The firm was left equally to three of his sons, George (1825–1900), Francis (1827–1917) and James (1833–1924). Nicandro Durante (born 13 September 1956) is a Brazilian businessman who served as the chief executive officer (CEO) of British American Tobacco (BAT), the world's largest tobacco company by sales, from 2011 to 2019. In September 2022 he was appointed as temporary CEO of Reckitt Benckiser. Early life Durante was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to Italian parents. Dettol
Dettol is a cleaning disinfectant and antiseptic. It was introduced in 1932 by the British company Reckitt. In Germany, it is sold under the name Sagrotan. Prior to 2002, some Dettol products were branded Dettox. Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant Liquid The active ingredient in Dettol that provides its antiseptic property is chloroxylenol (C8H9ClO), an aromatic chemical compound. Chloroxylenol comprises 4.9% total admixture, with the rest made up of pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil, soap and water. Circa 1978, "household Dettol" contained chloroxylenol (48 g/L), terpineol, and ethyl alcohol. The original Dettol liquid antiseptic and disinfectant is light yellow in colour in the concentrated form but, as several of the ingredients are insoluble in water, it produces a milky emulsion of oil droplets when diluted with water, exhibiting the ouzo effect. Veet, formerly called Neet and Immac, is a Canadian brand of chemical depilatory products manufactured by the British company Reckitt. Hair removal cream, Lotions, gel, mousse, and wax products are produced under this brand, with differing variants being sold internationally. Previous products produced under the Neet and Immac brands were similar to those produced today. Veet's hair removal products contain thioglycolic acid and potassium hydroxide. These ingredients react to generate the depilatory chemical potassium thioglycolate, which according to the company, increases hair loss. The effect is to break the disulfide bonds of the keratin molecules in hair. This reduces the tensile strength of the keratin so greatly that the hair can be wiped away. Airborne is an American brand of dietary supplement containing herbal extracts, amino acids, antioxidants, electrolytes, vitamins, and other ingredients originally marketed as preventing the common cold and improving immune function. The benefits of its use are unsupported by robust clinical research. There are no studies supporting Airborne's effectiveness that meet scientific standards.
