Recht (crater)
Recht is a small impact crater on the far side of the Moon. It was named after the American mathematician and astronomer Albert William Recht. Is lies across the eastern rim of the much larger crater Ostwald. To the northeast of Recht is Meshcherskiy. This is a bowl-shaped formation with an interior floor that is less than half the diameter of the crater. The inner walls have a higher albedo than the surrounding terrain, while the interior floor is about the same shade of grey. Albert William Recht
Albert William Recht (1898–1962) was an American mathematician and astronomer. Initially he applied to work as a Spanish instructor at University of Denver. Instead he was hired by the Mathematics Department. He became chair of the mathematics department in 1943–44 and 1947–49. While at the university he pursued his interest in astronomy, working at the Chamberlin Observatory under the instruction of Herbert Howe. In 1926 Recht became director of the observatory, and full director in 1928. Over the following eleven years he studied during the summer months to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1939, working at Yerkes Observatory. He did his thesis work on the 6P/d'Arrest comet. Following his graduation, he was most noted for his work on the popularization of astronomy. During the 1950s he began a popular program of public viewing nights at the observatory. However his efforts to preserve the observatory at the time were unsuccessful. The crater ... Rick Recht
Richard Samuel "Rick" Recht (born August 28, 1970) is an American rock musician who was one of the early pioneers of contemporary Jewish rock music in the early 2000s, performing for Jewish teenage and young adult audiences. Career Recht grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. By the late 1990s, he was a member of a band and worked as a song leader at a Jewish day camp in St. Louis. By the early 2000s, Recht and his band were touring nationwide, delivering about 150 performances a year, included for an estimated audience of 30,000 people at the Los Angeles Jewish Festival in 2003. In 2010, Recht founded Jewish Rock Radio, one of the first exclusively Jewish rock online radio stations in the United States. Recht is the Artist-in-Residence at the United Hebrew Congregation in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he provides music for Shabbat, High Holidays, and other programming. Sruli Recht (born 1979) is a designer and artist based in Reykjavík, Iceland. He was born in Jerusalem, Israel, and holds Australian and Icelandic citizenship. Recht studied Fashion Design at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. In 2005 Recht left Australia to London where he worked with British designer Alexander McQueen before relocating to Reykjavik, Iceland, where he has been based since 2005.
