Receiver (album)
''Receiver'' is the second album by the band Farmer Not So John, released in 1998. It was the band's final album. Critical reception '' No Depression'' wrote that the band "churns out a difficult-to-pigeonhole sound that variously recalls early R.E.M., the first couple of Jayhawks records and the desolate edge of Neil Young’s more brooding efforts with Crazy Horse." The Associated Press called the album "excellent," writing that Farmer Not So John is "one of those impossible-to-classify bands, the kind that the small minds of so many radio programmers cannot make room for and therefore cannot add to their play lists, which is a real shame." Brian Thomas Ray (born January 4, 1955) is an American session musician, guitarist, bassist, singer–songwriter, and musical director. He is best known for his work as a bass, rhythm, and lead guitarist with Paul McCartney's touring band, though he has worked with an extensive list of artists in addition to his own solo career. Early life Brian Ray grew up in Southern California. His first musical performances were in front of his peers – at show and tell – setting his own lyrics to the tune of old folk songs. By the age of nine, he began playing the guitar. His elder sister, Jean (of folk duo Jim and Jean) spurred his interest in rock music through her record collection. Clive James Gregson (born 4 January 1955, Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, England) is an English singer/songwriter, musician and record producer. He has toured in bands, provided backup for well-known musicians, and written songs that have been covered by Kim Carnes, Norma Waterson and Nanci Griffith. Daniel Tashian
Daniel Tashian is an American songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He has spent ten years writing and producing for Big Yellow Dog Music. Tashian's music career began when he was 19 years old and signed his first deal on Elektra Records. His first album was produced by T Bone Burnett, and he also started a band called The Silver Seas (originally called The Bees) in 1999. The success of that band lead them to an appearance on '' Later... with Jools Holland''. In 2018, he co-produced Kacey Musgraves' critically acclaimed album '' Golden Hour'' in addition to co-writing 7 of the album's 13 songs, including "Slow Burn", "Happy and Sad", "Love is a Wild Thing", and the album's title track, "Golden Hour". Peter Rowan
Peter Rowan (born July 4, 1942) is an American bluegrass musician and composer. Rowan plays guitar and mandolin, yodels and sings. Biography Rowan was born in Wayland, Massachusetts to a musical family. From an early age, he had an interest in music and learned to play the guitar from his uncle. He formed the rockabilly band the Cupids 1956.Goldsmith 2004, p. 263.Von Schmidt, Rooney 1994, p. 64. Influenced by the blues musician Eric Von Schmidt, Rowan traded his electric guitar for an acoustic and began to play the blues. He was also influenced by the folk sound of Joan Baez. He soon discovered the music of Bill Monroe, and with some help from banjo player Bill Keith, he was invited to Nashville to audition for Monroe. Matthew Ryan (born November 7, 1971) is an American musician, singer and songwriter, born in Chester, Pennsylvania and inspired by such artists as U2, The Replacements, and Leonard Cohen. He logged several years in a series of bands before signing with A&M Records as a solo artist in 1996.
