Rebecca Vigil-Giron
Rebecca Vigil-Giron (born September 4, 1954) is an American politician who served as the secretary of state of New Mexico from 1987 to 1990 and again from 1999 to 2006. She is the longest-serving Secretary of State in New Mexico history. In 2009, Vigil-Giron was indicted by a grand jury on several counts of embezzlement, but the charges were dropped in 2012. Early life and education Rebecca Vigil was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, Vigil-Giron is an 11th-generation New Mexican. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and social science from New Mexico Highlands University and is a graduate of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is an independent agency of the United States government created by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). The Commission serves as a national clearinghouse and resource of information regarding election administration. The ''Albuquerque Journal'' is the largest newspaper in the U.S. state of New Mexico. History The ''Golden Gate'' newspaper was founded in June 1880. In the fall of 1880, the owner of the ''Golden Gate'' died and Journal Publishing Company was created. Journal Publishing changed the paper name to ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' and issued its first edition of the ''Albuquerque Daily Journal'' on October 14, 1880. The ''Daily Journal'' was first published in Old Town Albuquerque, but in 1882 the publication moved to a single room in the so-called new town (or expanded Albuquerque) at Second and Silver streets near the railroad tracks. The New Mexico Court of Appeals (in case citation, N.M. Ct. App.) is the intermediate-level appellate court for the state of New Mexico. History The court of appeals was created by a constitutional amendment submitted to the electorate in a special election held on September 28, 1965. Michelle Lynn Lujan Grisham (; born October 24, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 32nd governor of New Mexico since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Lujan Grisham previously served as the U.S. representative for New Mexico's 1st congressional district from 2013 to 2019.
