Reamonn
Reamonn was a German pop rock band fronted by local-based Irish singer/songwriter Rea Garvey. Formed in 1999, they have recorded and released a total of six full-length studio albums which were highly successful in Germany and also saw some success in other European countries. They gained recognition in 2000 with their song "Supergirl" from their debut album ''Tuesday''. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2012. History The 1990s: Forming and first contract In 1997, Rea Garvey left his band ''The Reckless Pedestrians'' and home town of Tralee, Ireland to go to Germany with not a lot of money and a demo CD in his pocket. He put an ad into local paper ''Stockacher Anzeiger'' stating, "Singer requires band for recording and live shows". Mike Gommeringer (Gomezz) saw this ad and accurately assumed it must have been Garvey, whose original band he had once seen play live. The two met up and subsequently recruited Uwe, Sebi and Phil. ''Tuesday'' is the first studio album by the pop rock band Reamonn. It was released in 2000 on EMI and Virgin Records. The album was produced by Steve Lyon, and was certified gold in Germany. Promotion The first single from the album was "Supergirl". It was certified Gold in Germany, and became the most-played song on German radio in 2000. Reamonn became stars and played at many festivals and concerts. In the latter half of 2000, they went on their own tour to promote the album with support from Heyday. The next singles, "Josephine" and "Waiting There for You", achieved similar success. Rea Garvey
Raymond Michael Garvey (born 3 May 1973) is an Irish singer, songwriter and guitarist now residing in Germany. In 1998, he formed the band Reamonn. Over the 11 years that Garvey was their frontman, they saw chart-topping success in Europe, with a number of gold and platinum selling albums, Tuesday, Dream No. 7, Beautiful Sky, Wish and Eleven and several sold out European tours. In 2011, after the release of the band's best-of album/DVD "Eleven", and a best-of tour, the band parted ways. Garvey took this time to pursue a solo career, which gave birth to his first solo album "Can't Stand the Silence". This album saw Garvey's transition from anthem rock with Reamonn, to alternative electro pop.
