Somoto () is a city and a municipality located in the hills of northern Nicaragua, and capital of the department of Madriz. It is around 20 km (12 miles) south-west of Ocotal and 51 km (32 miles) north-west of Estelí. It sits on the Pan-American Highway around 16 km (10 miles) from the Honduran border crossing at El Espino. Liga Primera De Nicaragua
The Liga Primera de Nicaragua is the top division of football in Nicaragua, organized by the Federación Nicaragüense de Fútbol, it was created in 1933. It is played in two parts, Torneo de Apertura from August through November and Torneo de Clausura from January through May. Each of the regular seasons is followed by a playoff of the top four teams over a two-legged semifinal and subsequent final. The 2015–16 season in Primera División de Nicaragua was divided into two tournaments (Apertura and Clausura) and determined the 67th and 68th champions in the history of the league. It also provided the sole berth for the 2016–17 CONCACAF Champions League. The Apertura tournament was played in the second half of 2015, while the Clausura was played in the first half of 2016. Deportivo Walter Ferretti
Club Deportivo Walter Ferretti is a Nicaraguan football team who play in the Nicaraguan Premier Division. They are based in Managua. History The club was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Walter Ferretti Fonseca. Its intention was to serve as the sporting wing of the Sandinista Police, and it initially competed in an institutional league for government ministries. Later, the team moved into the Nicaraguan league system. At that time, they competed under the name of DGPS (''Dirección General de La Polícia Sandinista''). DGPS stormed through the lower levels of the Nicaraguan league system, winning the Second Division in 1985 with an undefeated record. The Segunda División de Nicaragua is the second football level of Nicaraguan football. It is organized by FENIFUT. Format Torneo de Apertura (Opening tournament) and Torneo de Clausura (Closure Tournament).
