''Real Emotional Trash'' is the fourth album by Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. The album was released on March 4, 2008 by Matador Records. The album was leaked on to the internet January 13, 2008. The album peaked #64 on the Billboard 200. The album is the Jicks' first to feature Quasi and Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss. The album was recorded at SnowGhost Music in Whitefish, Montana and Wilco's Foxtrot Studio in Chicago, Illinois. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. Nicolas Vernhes is a French record producer, recording engineer and record label owner. He is best known for his work with the American indie rock acts Animal Collective, Deerhunter, The Fiery Furnaces, Dirty Projectors, Wild Nothing and The War on Drugs. Mike Clark (indie Rock Musician)
Mike Clark is an American musician and restaurateur based in Portland, Oregon. He currently plays keyboards and guitar for Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Musical career Clark has performed with a number of bands in the Portland area. During the late 1990s and early 2000s (decade) he played drums with the Surf Maggots, guitar with the Underpants Machine and the No-No's, and keyboards with the Maroons. Since 2001, he has recorded and toured extensively with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. He is currently the touring bass player for The Corin Tucker Band and can be seen in their video for "Riley." Joanna Bolme
Joanna Bolme (born April 1, 1968) is a multi-instrumentalist (primarily bass guitar) and recording engineer who works with several indie rock bands and artists, mainly in the Pacific Northwest. She has been the bass guitarist for Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks since their formation in 2001. On October 12, 2019, Bolme was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. Biography Career Bolme became interested in playing music after seeing The Pretenders while in high school, and she was a fan of the Portland punk scene in the 80s. She learned to play bass when she "got bored with guitar" while playing with Calamity Jane. Over the years, she has played in bands including Quasi, The Minders, The Spinanes, Jr. High, Calamity Jane, Consortium, The Shadow Mortons, and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Wilco
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Janet Lee Weiss (born September 24, 1965) is an American rock drummer, best known as a former member of Sleater-Kinney and a current member of Quasi. She was the drummer for Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, leaving after the album ''Mirror Traffic'', and contributed to the Shins' fourth studio album, ''Port of Morrow'' (2012). She was also the drummer for the supergroup Wild Flag. Weiss is highly regarded as a drummer; ''Stylus Magazine'' listed her in 2007 as number 48 of rock's 50 greatest drummers, while in 2014 ''LA Weekly'' placed her at number 12 in the top 20. Quasi (phonetics 'kwa - zee') is an American indie rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1993 by former spouses Sam Coomes (vocals, guitar, rocksichord, various keyboards, bass) and Janet Weiss (vocals and drums). Joanna Bolme performed and recorded with the group as a bassist from 2007 to 2011. History In 1990, Sam Coomes, Janet Weiss, and Brad Pedinov formed the band Motorgoat.
