Reach Out (Cheap Trick Song)
"Reach Out" is a song by American rock band Cheap Trick, released in 1981 as a single from the soundtrack of the 1981 film '' Heavy Metal''. It was written by Bob James and Pete Comita, and produced by Roy Thomas Baker. Although the film's soundtrack album reached No. 12 on the ''Billboard'' 200, "Reach Out" was not a commercial success and failed to make a chart appearance. The single is the only release from Cheap Trick to feature Pete Comita as bassist. Comita had replaced original bassist Tom Petersson in 1980; however, Comita would also leave the band a year later, following the completion of the 1980-81 World Tour to promote ''All Shook Up''. Speaking to ''Ultimate Guitar'' in 2009, Nielsen said of the song: " omitawrote that song with a guy named Bob James. Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois, formed in 1973 by guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, lead vocalist Robin Zander and drummer Bun E. Carlos. The current lineup of the band consists of Zander, Nielsen and Petersson. Cheap Trick released their self-titled debut album in 1977 and, later that year, found success in Japan with the release of their second album, '' In Color''. The band would achieve mainstream popularity in the United States in 1979 with their breakthrough album ''Cheap Trick at Budokan''. Cheap Trick reached the Top 10 in the US charts in 1979 with the ''Budokan'' live version of "I Want You to Want Me" and topped the charts in 1988 with " The Flame". Bernie Grundman is an American audio engineer. He is most known for his mastering work and his studio, Bernie Grundman Mastering, which he opened in 1984 in Hollywood. The studio, which includes engineers Chris Bellman, Patricia Sullivan, and Mike Bozzi, mastered 37 projects which received Grammy Award nominations in 2005. In 1997 he opened a studio in Tokyo. A bun is a type of bread roll, typically filled with savory fillings (for example hamburger). A bun may also refer to a sweet cake in certain parts of the world. Though they come in many shapes and sizes, buns are most commonly round, and are generally hand-sized or smaller. In the United Kingdom, the usage of the term differs greatly in different regions. Rick Nielsen
Richard Alan Nielsen (born December 22, 1948) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist, primary songwriter, and leader of the rock band Cheap Trick. He is well-known for his numerous custom-made guitars from Hamer Guitars, including his famous five-neck guitar. Career Nielsen was born into a musical family, with both parents being opera singers. His father, Ralph Nielsen, also directed symphonies, choirs and recorded over forty solo albums. During Rick's teens, the family owned a music store in Rockford, Illinois, and he learned to play a number of instruments. After playing drums for six years, Rick changed direction, learning how to play guitar and keyboards. His first school band was The Phaetons, which mutated into The Grim Reapers (which later included Tom Petersson in its line up). Robin Zander
Robin Wayne Zander (born January 23, 1953) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Cheap Trick, but is also a solo artist. Zander was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 as a member of Cheap Trick. Early life Zander was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, and grew up in nearby Loves Park, Illinois. He learned to play the guitar by age 12. Zander graduated from Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois.
