Raúl Vilches
Raúl Vilches More (2 October 1954 – 13 January 2022), more commonly known as Raúl Vilches, was a Cuban volleyball player and two-time Olympian. Career Vilches competed in the 1976 and the 1980 Summer Olympics. In 1976, he was part of the Cuban team that won the bronze medal in the Olympic tournament. He played all six matches. Four years later, he finished seventh with the Cuban team in the 1980 Olympic tournament. He played all six matches again. Cifuentes () is a municipality and town in the Villa Clara Province of Cuba founded in 1819 and established as a municipality in 1919. 1979 Pan American Games
The 1979 Pan American Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Panamericanos de 1979''), officially the VIII Pan American Games were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, and were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from July 1 to July 15, 1979. The 1980 documentary film ''A Step Away'' showcased a number of athletes competing in the Games. The Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC or CACGs) are a multi-sport regional championship event, held quadrennial (once every four years), typically in the middle (even) year between Summer Olympics. The games are for countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the South American Caribbean countries of Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The games are overseen by Centro Caribe Sports (''formerly CACSO''). The 1987 Pan American Games, officially known as the X Pan American Games, was a major international multi-sport event held in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, on August 7–23, 1987. Over 4,300 athletes from 38 countries in the Americas competed in 30 sports, earning 1,015 medals. Events were held at 23 venues in and around Indianapolis. The official mascot for the games was Amigo, a green parrot. Host city selection Santiago, Chile, was originally named the host of the tenth Pan American Games, but it withdrew in 1983 due to political and financial problems.
