Monochrom
Monochrom (stylised as monochrom) is an international art-technology-philosophy group, publishing house and film production company. It was founded in 1993, and defines itself as "an unpeculiar mixture of proto-aesthetic fringe work, pop attitude, subcultural science and political activism". Its main office is located at Museumsquartier/Vienna (at 'Q21'). The group's members are: Johannes Grenzfurthner, Evelyn Fürlinger, Harald Homolka-List, Anika Kronberger, Franz Ablinger, Frank Apunkt Schneider, Daniel Fabry, Günther Friesinger and Roland Gratzer. The group is known for working with different media and entertainment formats, although many projects are performative and have a strong focus on a critical and educational narrative. Johannes Grenzfurthner calls this "looking for the best weapon of mass distribution of an idea". Monochrom is openly left-wing and tries to encourage public debate, sometimes using subversive affirmation or ''over-affirmation'' as a tactic. The ...

Johannes Grenzfurthner
Johannes Grenzfurthner (; born 1975 in Vienna) is an Austrian artist, filmmaker, writer, actor, curator, theatre director, performer and lecturer. Grenzfurthner is the founder, conceiver and artistic director of ''monochrom'', an international art and theory group and film production company. Most of his artworks are labeled ''monochrom''. Grenzfurthner is an outspoken researcher in subversive and underground culture, for example the field of sexuality and technology, and one of the founders of "techno-hedonism". Boing Boing magazine referred to Grenzfurthner as ''leitnerd'', a wordplay with the German term Leitkultur that ironically hints at Grenzfurthner's role in nerd/hacker/art culture. Career In the early 1990s, Grenzfurthner was a member of several Bulletin Board System, BBS message boards. Grenzfurther used his online connections to create ''monochrom'', a zine or alternative magazine that dealt with art, technology and subversive cultures. His motivation was to react t ...

Rohrwald
The Rohrwald is a forest complex in the Weinviertel area of Lower Austria. With a total area of approx. 24 sq km (9 sq mi), it represents the third largest closed forest complex in the district of Korneuburg after the Tulln Basin-Danube floodplains and the Ernstbrunn Forest. The Rohrwald extends over the municipalities Harmannsdorf, Leobendorf, Leitzersdorf and Niederhollabrunn, whereby the largest part lies in the cadastral municipality Rückersdorf. The Rohrwald is located on a foothill of the flysch zone at the edge of the Korneuburg Basin and is therefore crossed by several streams, which is rather untypical for the Weinviertel. In the Weinviertel, which is poorly forested and intensively used for agricultural purposes, the Rohrwald has a high ecological value and an essential function as a local recreation area. Geology Geologically, the western peaks of the Rohrwald - the Waschberg and the Michelberg (Haselbach) - which are no longer forested and thus provide a goo ...

Homo Sapiens (film)
''Homo Sapiens'' is a 2016 documentary film directed by Nikolaus Geyrhalter. Description ''Homo Sapiens'' consists of static shots showing derelict spaces. No people are seen or heard in the film. Brief intervals of blackness divide the footage into chapters. The film opens with a scene showing the Buzludzha monument. Earlier scenes show building interiors, such as offices, churches, hospitals, and cinemas. As the film progresses, more outdoor scenes appear and signs of human presence become less conspicuous. It closes with the Buzludzha monument again, seen from outside as it is engulfed by white fog. Production Filming took place over the course of four years, at over 100 sites. During pre-production research for the film, the crew found locations through urban exploration photography online. They used funding for the research to start visiting sites and immediately begin shooting scenes there. As this progressed, Geyrhalter identified topics that he wanted to cover and fo ...
