Ray Blacklock
Raymond Patrick Blacklock (6 April 1955 – 28 October 2020) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. Playing career He started his career at the Penrith Panthers, making first grade in 1976. Blacklock played four seasons at Penrith between 1976 and 1980 and captained the Panthers' Under-23s side that won the premiership in 1978. He then switched to the Newtown Jets for two seasons between 1981 and 1982. Blacklock played wing in the 1981 Grand Final team that were defeated by the Parramatta Eels. He moved to Canberra Raiders for his final two seasons (1983-1984) before retiring. Oberon, New South Wales
Oberon is a town located within the Oberon Council local government area, in the central tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. The main industries are farming, forestry and wood products. The town usually receives snowfall during the winter months, owing to its high elevation. At the 2021 census, Oberon had a population of 3,319 people. It is the birthplace of Greens politician Bob Brown, Ken Sutcliffe, supermotard rider Scott Saul, former Penrith Panthers players Ray Blacklock, Mark Booth, Dr Therese Wales and DJ Tallis O’Neill. Multiple System Atrophy
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by autonomic dysfunction, tremors, slow movement, muscle rigidity, and postural instability (collectively known as parkinsonism) and ataxia. This is caused by progressive degeneration of neurons in several parts of the brain including the basal ganglia, inferior olivary nucleus, and cerebellum. Many people affected by MSA experience dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which commonly manifests as orthostatic hypotension, impotence, loss of sweating, dry mouth and urinary retention and incontinence. Palsy of the vocal cords is an important and sometimes initial clinical manifestation of the disorder. A modified form of the alpha-synuclein protein within affected neurons may cause MSA. Nathan Blacklock
Nathan Blacklock (born 4 April 1976) is an Australian former professional rugby league and, briefly, rugby union footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. An Australia national rugby league representative , he played for the Sydney City Roosters and the St. George Dragons before they formed a joint-venture with the Illawarra Steelers to form the St. George Illawarra Dragons, with whom he continued playing, becoming the National Rugby League's top try-scorer for three consecutive seasons from 1999 to 2001. Blacklock also played in the Super League for Hull FC, with whom he won the 2005 Challenge Cup. Background Born in Tingha, New South Wales, Blacklock went on to gain the nickname, ''Tingha Tornado''.
