Ray Biffin
Raymond Leo Biffin (born 6 May 1949 in Launceston) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Launceston-born Ray Biffin went to the mainland in 1968 and joined Melbourne after starting his career in the NTFA. He was known for his robust physical approach to the game and played most games at either full-forward or fullback. He topped Melbourne's goalkicking in 1976 with 47 goals. When he left the club after the 1979 season he became coach of Dandenong. He is an inductee (No. 153) of the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame. He was also a cricketer. In the 1967–68 season he played a first-class match for Tasmania against the touring Indian team, making 10 runs and taking two wickets. North Launceston Football Club
The North Launceston Football Club, nicknamed ''The Bombers'', is an Australian rules football club based in Launceston, Tasmania. Australia. Since 2009 they have played in the newly formed Tasmanian State League. History The club started as "Railway Football Club" in 1893 and were known as "Essendon" in the 1898 season. It fielded a team in the NTFA Junior Competition for three years, and began playing in the senior competition in 1896. Its first season under the North Launceston name was in 1899 when it played in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association. The club has remained in the top tier of state competition ever since, playing in the Tasmanian Football League and Northern Tasmanian Football League upon the competition restructures in the state. Ajit Wadekar
Ajit Laxman Wadekar (; 1 April 1941 – 15 August 2018) was an Indian international cricketer who played for the Indian national team between 1966 and 1974. Described as an "aggressive batsman", Wadekar made his first-class debut in 1958, before making his foray into international cricket in 1966. He batted at number three and was considered to be one of the finest slip fielders. Wadekar also captained the Indian cricket team which won series in the West Indies and England in 1971 (first victory of Indian team in test cricket outside of India was recorded in 1968 under the captaincy of Mansoor Pataudi against New Zealand). Northern Tasmanian Football Association (1886–1986)
The Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) was an Australian rules football competition which ran from 1886 to 1986. In its time it was one of the three main leagues in Tasmania, with the Tasmanian Football League and North West Football Union representing the rest of the state. It was based in the city of Launceston. The three most successful clubs of the old NTFA, Launceston, North Launceston and City-South, went on to compete in the short-lived TFL Statewide League. From 1947 to 1983 the NTFA was a six team competition, in 1984 George Town and Deloraine joined to make eight teams. In 1987, the NTFA merged with the North West Football Union to form the Northern Tasmanian Football League.
