John William Rawlings '' ed' (August 17, 1892 – October 16, 1972) was a second baseman and shortstop in Major League Baseball who played for six different teams between the and seasons. Listed at , 158 lb., he batted and threw right-handed. Career A native of Bloomfield, Iowa, Rawlings attended high school in Los Angeles. He started his professional career in 1911 with the Vernon Tigers of the Pacific Coast League. Rawlings entered the majors in 1914 with the Cincinnati Reds, appearing for them in 33 games before jumping during the mid-season to the Kansas City Packers of the outlaw Federal League. After one and a half seasons in Kansas City, he spent 1917 with the Toledo Iron Men of the American Association. William Reginald Rawlings
William Reginald Rawlings, MM (September 1890 – 9 August 1918) was a decorated Australian Aboriginal soldier of the First World War. He was also the uncle of Captain Reginald Saunders, the first Aboriginal commissioned officer in the Australian Military Forces. Early life Rawlings was born in Purnim, Victoria, in September 1890 to William and Bessie Rawlings. He grew up on the Aboriginal reserve at Framlingham, and was a horse-breaker around Purnim before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force at Warrnambool, Victoria on 20 March 1916. First World War After undertaking initial training, Rawlings embarked on HMAT ''Orsova'' from Melbourne on 1 August 1916. He joined the 29th Battalion, 8th Brigade in France, as part of the battalion's 8th Reinforcements. Steven Rawlings
Steven Gregory Rawlings (11 October 1961 – 11 January 2012) was a British astrophysicist at the University of Oxford, where he held a professorship in astrophysics and a fellowship at St Peter's College. He studied physics and theoretical physics at St John's College, Cambridge and received his PhD in radio astronomy in 1988. He was one of the lead scientists in the Square Kilometre Array project. On 11 January 2012, Rawlings died at the Southmoor home of close friend and colleague Dr Devinder Sivia, a lecturer in mathematics for the sciences at St John's College. Sivia said that Rawlings, who had been receiving treatment for unspecified mental health issues, began to physically attack him, and Sivia held him in a headlock to restrain him; Rawlings died from a heart attack shortly thereafter. Moses Rawlings
Moses Rawlings (1740–1809) served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, most notably at the Battle of Fort Washington. He attained the rank of lieutenant colonel before leaving the military in 1779. He later served as the State Commissioner for Prisoners in Maryland. American Revolutionary War Rawlings was appointed as first lieutenant in Capt. Michael Cresap's Independent Rifle Company from Frederick County, Maryland. Shortly afterward Cresap died, and Rawlings replaced him as company commander.
