Ravi Rathore is an Indian polo player and an Arjuna Awardee. He is a Colonel and Commandant of the 61st Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army, and also holds the appointment of Honorary secretary of the Indian Polo Association (IPA). Ravi Rathore is also the highest handicapped polo player in the Indian Army. He has been an integral part of the Indian Polo team for five consecutive World cup championships and won two golds in 2011 and 2017. The Arjuna Award, officially known as Arjuna Awards for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games, is the second-highest sporting honour of India, the highest being the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Polo
Polo is a ball game played on horseback, a traditional field sport and one of the world's oldest known team sports. The game is played by two opposing teams with the objective of scoring using a long-handled wooden mallet to hit a small hard ball through the opposing team's goal. 61st Cavalry Regiment (India)
The 61st Cavalry Regiment is a horse-mounted cavalry unit of the Indian Army. It is notable for being one of the largest, and also one of the last, operational unmechanised horse-mounted cavalry units in the world. Formerly deployed into active conflict, 61st Cavalry is currently employed on ceremonial occasions, though it can be deployed for internal security or police purposes if required. On Republic Day each year the 61st Cavalry and the President's Bodyguard parade in full dress uniform in New Delhi, in what is probably the largest assemblage of traditional cavalry still to be seen in the world. Polo Handicap
A polo handicap is a system created by Henry Lloyd Herbert, the first president of the United States Polo Association, at the founding of the USPA in 1890 so teams could be more evenly matched when using players with varying abilities. The players are rated on a scale from minus-2 to 10. Minus-2 indicates a novice player, while a player rated at 10 goals has the highest handicap possible. It is so difficult to attain a 10-goal handicap that there are fewer than two dozen in the world, and about two-thirds of all players handicapped are rated at two goals or less. Ram Nath Kovind (; born 1 October 1945) is an Indian politician who served as the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
