Rauf Mammadov
Rauf Mamedov ( az, Rauf Məmmədov; born 26 April 1988) is an Azerbaijani chess grandmaster and a three-time national champion. He competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015. Career Born in Baku, Mamedov started playing chess at the age of seven. In 2004, he won the Under 14 section of the European Youth Chess Championships. In the same year he became a Grandmaster (GM), following his victory of the Dubai Open. Mamedov won the Azerbaijani championship in 2006, 2008 and 2015. He competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015. In 2009, he tied for 1st-3rd with Yuriy Kuzubov and Dmitry Andreikin in the category 16 SPICE Cup tournament at Lubbock, Texas. Mamedov won the Corsica Masters blitz tournament in 2011. In 2015 Mamedov won the European Blitz Chess Championship in Minsk. Nataliya Ihorivna Buksa ( uk, Наталія Ігорівна Букса; born November 6, 1996) is a Ukrainian chess player. Career She won the Girls' World Junior Chess Championship in 2015. By doing so she became a Woman Grandmaster (WGM), and qualified for the Women's World Chess Championship 2017. Nataliya Buksa won the Women's Ukrainian Chess Championship in 2018 in Kyiv. In 2018, she was awarded the International Master (IM) title by FIDE. She is ranked 5th best female player in Ukraine, and her highest rating was 2437 (in September 2018). The European Team Championship (often abbreviated in texts and games databases as ''ETC'') is an international team chess event, eligible for the participation of European nations whose chess federations are located in zones 1.1 to 1.9. This more or less accords with the wider definition of Europe used in other events such as the Eurovision Song Contest and includes Israel, Russia and the former Soviet States. Gashimov Memorial is a chess supertournament played in Azerbaijan in memory of Vugar Gashimov (1986–2014). Winners 2014 The Gashimov Memorial 2014 took place in the Haydar Aliev Centre in Shamkir City from 16 April to 30 April 2014, consisting of two tournaments, with invited players Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Sergey Karjakin, Fabiano Caruana, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, and Teimour Radjabov making up the A Tournament. The Elo average for the tournament was 2780, making it a Category 22 event and one of the highest rated tournaments of all time. Aeroflot Open
The Aeroflot Open is an annual open chess tournament played in Moscow and sponsored by the airline Aeroflot. It was established in 2002 and quickly grew to be the strongest open tournament; in 2013 it was converted to a rapid and blitz event, while in 2014 it wasn't held. The first event had around 80 grandmasters, while in the second event 150 grandmasters participated.
